Pangani
Forest Exploration Trail
Located at the end of Kilamanjaro Safari, or from an entrance in
Harambe, guests can enter the Pangani (Swahili for "place of
enchantment") Forest Exploration Trail, where they can take a walk
through the domain of two troops of lowland gorillas, see hippos from an
underwater viewing area and get close to exotic birds in an aviary.
The trail begins at the Research Station and leads to the free flight aviary
and a large aquarium with a variety of fish. Next up is the hippopotomaus
exhibit, where guests can view hippos both in and out of water. Further up
ahead is a scenic overlook area, where guests can get an unobstructed view
of the African savanna. Here, also, guests will be able to see a family of
meerkats. At the end of the trail is the highlight of the attraction: the
Gorilla enclosure. This lush green valley is home to several African lowland
gorillas. If you don't see any right away, just wait a few minutes. These
guys like to hide!
The Pangani Forest Exploration Trail is what Animal kingdom is all about.
