Disney's
Animal Kingdom

Disney calls the Animal Kingdom
"A New Species of Theme Park" and indeed it is. It is unlike any Disney
park you have visited before. Guests can experience animal encounters
among lush equatorial vegetation, experience an authentic African safari,
scale one of the world's highest mountain peaks, go back in time to the
prehistoric world of the dinosaurs, and see a variety of live stage shows.
As soon a you walk
into Animal Kingdom, you are transformed to a lush, dense, tropical
jungle. This area, called the Oasis, provides a transitional space and
sets the tone for a day of wild exploration. Live animals can be
encountered just about anywhere at Animal Kingdom, so keep your eyes
peeled for the park's inhabitants.

The safari ride is one of the largest
attractions at any Disney park, spanning 110 acres of recreated African
savanna. In addition to the animals, this park contains one of
Walt Disney World's largest and most thrilling roller coasters,
Expedition Everest. Towering high above the trees, this majestic
mountain peak beckons to those who seek thrills and adventure.
Animal Kingdom
park has a reputation for being the hottest park (temperature wise) at
Walt Disney World. The excessive, dense vegetation has a tendency to
increase the humidity and trap heat. Kali River Rapids is a great way to
cool off when temperatures in the park soar.
While
some critics and Disney fans have panned the park saying "there's not enough to
do", we would have to call it a good park only getting better! We enjoy the
relaxed atmosphere, elaborate theming and lush tropical feel.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT ANIMAL KINGDOM? |

NEW! |
 |
Rivers of Light is a new night time spectacular located along
Discovery river between Discovery Island and Expedition Everest. Animal Kingdom's
first show to take place after dark! The
entertainment experience combines live performers with floating
lanterns, water screens and swirling animal imagery. “This is going to
be a ceremonial event that will happen on our lake,” said Imagineer Joe
Rohde. “It takes the idea of the special nature of the animals that are
in this park and turns it into a celebration of the beauty of these
animals. It starts simply and humbly, continues to unfold and grow as
bigger and more elaborate lanterns appear, and then huge curtains of
water and light emerge from the water with animals within them. And
ultimately it takes off into the sky.” |

Disney’s Animal Kingdom debuted several exciting new guest
offerings on May 27. The Tree of Life began its
nighttime awakenings after the sun goes down each evening. But as the
sun sets the fun will heat up on Discovery Island, where two new parties
– Harambe Wildlife Parti and Discovery Island
Carnivale – add fun, music and entertainment to the night.
And the park also began extending its operating hours into the
evening to allow guests to experience their favorite Disney’s Animal
Kingdom attractions, like Kilimanjaro Safaris and Expedition Everest, in
a whole new light. Two new F&B locations, Tiffins
restaurant and Nomad Lounge, have recently opened their doors
for business. |
