<< Comforts of the Kingdom>>

Creature Comforts re-opened June 18th as a Starbucks location. The former Discovery Island gift shop has received external and internal design changes, although the building structure remains the same. The purple, teal, and orange color scheme has been replaced by a brown and cream color scheme with mosaic accents.

The location features four signature confections; the African Milk Tart, The Cotton Top Tamarin Cupcake, The Tree of Life Cupcake, and The Zebra Cupcake. As part of its wildlife conservation effort, Disney will make a donation to cotton top tamarin conservation for every Flat White Espresso sold. The prominence of the cotton top tamarin at the new location is likely due to the close proximity of the relatively new cotton top tamarin habitat.

The new location offers an Animal Kingdom 'You Are Here' Mug that features the Tree of Life, Kilimanjaro Safari, and Expedition Everest.

In conjunction with the opening, Pizzafari ceased breakfast service effective June 17, 2015.

<< The Great Movie Refurb>>

Disney's Hollywood Studios Cast have reported that the Great Movie Ride has unveiled several changes on May 28th as part of the new Turner Classic Movies sponsorship.

Here's a listing of the changes:

- Movie posters (digital screens) that rotate through classic movies have been added to the queue area .
- The pre-show movie trailer loop has been replaced by a new, longer pre-show film narrated by Robert Osborne.
- The marquee in the loading area has been replaced. The original 'A Spectacular Journey into the Movies--A Cast of Thousands! A Sweeping Spectacle of Thrills! Chills! and Romance!" has been replaced with 'The Ultimate Celebration of Classic Movies--Presented by TCM Turner Classic Movies'
- Robert Osborne has been added as a new audio host for the show scenes; however, the Guides have maintained portions of their previous live narration. All 'interaction' between your Guide and other 'characters' you meet along your journey remains the same.
- The finale montage has been replaced by a new montage introduced by Robert Osborne. The new montage is a mix of clips from the previous montage and new clips.

<<One Square Meal>>

The Magic Kingdom has announced an operational change to one of its most popular dining locations. Effective July 3, 2015; Tony’s Town Square Restaurant will change from 11:30 am – 2:45 pm Lunch seatings and 4:40 pm - 9:30 pm Dinner seatings to a single 11:00 am -9:30 pm All Day seating. The new single seating option will also introduce a single menu with All Day specialties.

<<A Bright Idea>>

The Patina Restaurant Group has released a press release detailing a new restaurant for Disney Springs named The Edison:

>> New York, New York -- Patina Restaurant Group and Kinetescape’s Andrew Meieran announce that they will open The Edison, a lavish “Industrial Gothic” -style restaurant, bar and nighttime destination at the new Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort. Famous for exceptionally good classic American food, craft cocktails and live entertainment including cabaret and music, The Edison is inspired by its sister location in Los Angeles and set in a historic power plant.

The Edison is dedicated to a resurgence of old world-style sophistication and romance. The Florida venue will be themed to a 1920s-period electric company and recall an exuberant era of invention and imagination. Featuring 35-foot ceilings and a range of themed areas to explore, The Edison will have The Lab performance space, The Ember Parlour, Telegraph Lounge, The Patent Office, The Tesla Lounge, The Radio Room, Waterfront Patio and more. Entertainment will include contortionists, palm readers, DJs and more. Andrew Meieran’s vision and designs will be executed by Gensler Architects.
<<

The new venue is slated to open in 2016 on the lots formerly occupied by the BET Soundstage and the Adventurer's Club.

<<The New Shop on the Block>>

Zuri's Sweets Shop opened on June 17th, 2015 as the capstone to the new Harambe Market section at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

NOTE: Before we could even get this newsletter out, the Poop had been discontinued due to customer complaints.  We talk about this on the next INTERCOT Insider Podcast.

The new location features a variety of treats including four somewhat inexplicable confections devised to look like actual animal droppings. The 'Match the Species' series includes Cotton Top Tamarin Poop, Elephant Poop, Giraffe Poop, and Hippo Poop. The seemingly odd offering may be more stomachable than they sound; here are the ingredients for the different droppings:

- Cotton Top Tamarin Poop: Pretzel pearls coated in chocolate peanut butter fudge and sweet rolled oat flakes.
- Elephant Poop: Chocolate peanut butter fudge with sweet rolled oats and yellow coconut flakes.
- Giraffe Poop: Rolled Chocolate fudge brownie and caramel.
- Hippo Poop: Chocolate fudge caramel brownie with peanut butter and rolled oats.

If edible excrement is too exotic for your taste buds, the location also offers more civilized signature confections including:

- African Spice popcorn
- Animal Kingdom Animal Crackers
- Animal Kingdom 5 Flavor Chocolate Bar Set
- Animal Print Rice Krispie Treats
- Assorted Bulk Candies
- Assorted Bulk Nuts
- Dark Chocolate Mickey with Chili Peppers
- Elephant Carmel Apple
- Iced Giraffe Cookie
- Iced Lion Cookie
- Iced Monkey Cookie
- Iced Tiger Cookie
- Iced Zebra Cookie
- Mickey Mouse Chocolate-dipped coconut patties
- Mini Chocolate Crocodiles
- Monkey Carmel Apple
- Simba Paw lollipop

Guests can take home 'taste' of the park with Flame Tree Barbeque Rubs, bottled Flame Tree Barbeque Sauce, and bags of Tusker House Coffee.

In addition to the fresh and packaged goodies; the store also has a small section of baskets, mugs, plates, and other African inspired home goods.
