<<A Taste of Africa>>

Animal Kingdom has announced “The Taste of Africa Street Party” event that will run from July 9-24, 2010. The event will be held in the Africa section of the park and will run daily from 3:45 p.m. until park closing. On July 12th and 19th, the event will continue till the end of the Evening Extra Magic Hours.  The "party" will include kiosks selling African food and beverages, an African beer and wine tasting in the Tamu Tamu courtyard, performances by Wasslou, live DJ, a dance party, authentic African merchandise, and educational animal programs with the Harambe Wildlife Team.

<<Best Friends Resort Open for Booking>>

Pet lovers visiting Walt Disney World Resort can now plan to board the family pet in luxurious new accommodations. Reservations are being accepted for pet boarding stays beginning Aug. 27, 2010, at the new Best Friends Pet Care Resort. The resort comprises more than 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, including 17,000 square feet of air-conditioned indoor space, 10,000 square feet of covered outdoor runs and play areas, and an expansive private dog park for the use of pet resort clients and their dogs. The facility will accommodate up to 270 dogs and 30 cats for both daytime and overnight boarding. Guests can book accommodations for their pets at 877-4-WDW-PETS. 

<<Space Shots>>

As of June 28, 2010 Guests now have new options for purchasing their on-ride photos from Space Mountain at The Magic Kingdom. Guests may purchase their photo as a digital download from the DisneyPhotoPass.com website. Guests may also purchase their photo as a digital file and combined with other bonus digital content on a Disney-themed USB drive. The USB Drive will include the Guest's ride photo plus 7 extra professional stock photos of the Space Mountain attraction.  The original charge for the USB Drive and the first ride photo is $24.95. Additional photos can be added to the same USB drive as part of the same transaction for $9.95 per photo. All regular Merchandise discounts apply. In addition to these new options, Guests may still by prints of the photos at the on-ride photo kiosk.

<<A New Treat>>

The Goebel retail location in Epcot's Germany pavilion will soon close and be replaced by a Werther's Candy Shop. The new location will be named Karamelle-Kueche and give Guests the opportunity to watch some of the candy being made. The store will feature caramel popcorn, caramel apples, caramel-covered marshmallows and caramel-covered strawberries made fresh daily in its show kitchen. The store will also feature pre-packaged caramels, fudge, brownies, cupcakes and cookies.  The new shop is expected to open Late September 2010.

<<Good Times Return>>

The Good Times Gathering Spot has returned to the Animal Kingdom for most of Summer 2010. The entertainment area in Camp Minnie-Mickey is open 10:00 am till 3:00 pm daily. The area features character meet & greets, storytelling with Pocahontas and a live DJ.  The event will run through August 7, 2010.

<<Merchandise Mixing>>

Guests familiar with the Emporium in the Magic Kingdom should plan on extra time to find their favorite wares on their next visit. The Main Street USA shopping staple has recently rearranged most of its merchandise sections. All of the displays appear to have been moved with the exception of the Mouseketeer Ears section, the men’s appeal section, the sport apparel section, and the women’s appeal section. Some of the merchandise relocations include the yearly merchandise section replaced by the Housewares section, the Housewares section replaced by the plush section, the plush section replaced by the toys and collectibles section, and the princess merchandise section replaced by the yearly merchandise section. It does not appear that any merchandise section has been eliminated, just moved to a new location.

<<Beyond the Berms>>
