 As we celebrate the unofficial kick-off of Summer with cook-outs and BBQ's, this edition of the Insider is sizzling with the latest hot news from the Walt Disney World resort.  From attraction upgrades, to the return of a classic show, to a brand new resort hotel; INTERCOT.com has been buzzing with news and in this edition we round-up these important news bytes.  It's Insider Time!

<<Captain EO Returns to Epcot>>

The classic musical spectacular, which thrilled Epcot guests from 1986–1994, is scheduled to return to Epcot on July 2. The film’s return to the Imagination pavilion will provide new audiences the opportunity to experience the original 3D production for the very first time, as well as a nostalgic look back for longtime fans wanting to see Jackson in a rare performance created for the big-screen. To make way for the change, "Honey, I Shrunk The Audience" closed on May 9th. 

<<Lotso Lands at the Studios>>

Lotso, the new Teddy Bear character from Toy Story 3, has arrived at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  Lotso began Meet & Greet appearances in the Magic of Disney Animation building and joined the line-up of Pixar characters in the Pixar Block Party Bash parade on May 9th. The new Lotso Meet & Greet, in the Magic of Disney Animation post-show area, has replaced the location that was recently vacated by the characters from UP!.  Lotso is currently appearing intermittently from 10:30 am till 2:30 pm and from 3:45 pm till 6:00 pm daily.  Lotso can bee seen in the Pixar Block Party Bash daily at 3:00 pm.

<<Toy Story Mania! Adds New Characters & Game>>

New characters from the soon-to-be-released Disney - Pixar film “Toy Story 3”  were added to the ride-game attraction Toy Story Mania! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 23rd. At “Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts,” the new characters will invite riders to shoot their virtual darts at all-new balloon targets in a primeval world promising volcanic levels of excitement. Game players are welcomed by Rex (the nervous Tyrannosaurus rex) and his new friend Trixie (a blue Triceratops and one of the toy characters from the new film) cheering them on. The new game (it replaces “Bo Peep’s Baaa-loon Pop”) turns up the fun with more hidden surprises. The “Hamm & Eggs” game will now be hosted by Hamm and Buttercup (a toy unicorn with heart-shaped nostrils). In the prize scene, Trixie, Buttercup, Dolly (a doll), Mr. Pricklepants (a lederhosen-clad hedgehog) and one other surprise – all from “Toy Story 3” – will appear with Woody and Jessie. 

<<Power Rangers Set to Leave the Studios>>

The long running Power Rangers Meet and Greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will come to an end later this Summer. This change appears to be a result of the Walt Disney Company selling the rights to the Power Rangers back to Haim Saban.  The Meet and Greet in the Streets of America section of the park is currently planned to cease operation on August 7, 2010.  The Power Rangers are currently making Meet & Greet Appearances at 10:30 am, 11:30am, 12:30 pm, 4:30 pm and, 5:30pm.  If you visit between now and August 7th, check with Guest Services at the park the day-of to confirm their appearance times for that day.
 

<<Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Unveiled>>

Plans have been announced for a new resort at Walt Disney World that’ll bring to life some of our most beloved characters and stories. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will be one-of-a-kind, featuring family suites designed around four themes: The Lion King, Cars, Finding Nemo and The Little Mermaid. All of the themed suites and rooms at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort are expected to open by the end of 2012. This resort will be located on the site of the never-completed Pop Century - Legendary Years Resort (next to the current Pop Century Resort) which was to feature themes from the turn of the century thru the 1940's.
