Sept. 20, 2003 – Disney’s Comedy Series “That’s So Raven” and “Lizzie McGuire” joined the lineup on “ABC Kids” Saturday Morning.
Sept. 20, 2004 – The Walt Disney Co. named the 2004 Disney Legends during a ceremony at the Disney Legends Plaza at the Disney Studios in Burbank, Ca. The following were among the 160 actors, filmmakers, animators, composers, and creative people who have been honored since 1987: Bill Anderson (film & television producer), Tim Conway (comedian/actor), Rolly Crump (Imagineer), Alice Davis (Imagineer), Karen Dotrice (actress), Matthew Garber (actor) Leonard Goldenson (former Chairman of the Board of ABC), Bob Gurr (Imagineer), Irwin Kostal (conductor/orchestrator), Ralph Kent (Imagineer), and Mel Shaw (animator).
Sept. 20, 2004 – The Disney attraction “The Boneyard” in Disney’s Animal Kingdom closed for rehab. (Re-opened Oct.15, 2004)
Sept. 20, 2005 – The Disneyland Opera House hosted this year’s “Disney Legends” program in honor of the parks 50th anniversary. (This year’s awards mark the first time that an hourly Cast Member was recognized.) Recipients included Art Linkletter (who helped host the park’s opening TV Broadcast) and comedian-actor Steve Martin (Who as a teen worked at Disneyland.)
Sept. 20, 2005 – Ashley Brown, formerly featured in the recent tour of Disney’s “On the Record,” joined the Broadway company of “Beauty and the Beast.” She is the 15th actress to portray Belle in the long-running Disney hit.
Sept. 20, 2005 – Disney’s Pooh cartoon “Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie” was released on DVD.
Sept. 20, 2008 – The 10th Annual Walt Disney Hometown Toonfest took place in Marceline, Missouri.
Sept. 20, 2008 – The opening act for the “Beauty and the Beast” stage show “Four For a Dollar” gave their last performance at Disney Hollywood Studios at WDW.
Sept. 20, 2009 – The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences awards the 2008-2009 Primetime Emmys for programs and individual achievements on the “61st Primetime Emmy Awards” broadcast on CBS. Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place” won Outstanding Children’s Program.
Sept. 20, 2010 – The “Flame Tree Barbecue” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom reopened after being closed for rehab.
