Diehard Pens fan here that agrees completely with this statement. The Pens have a huge (albeit possibly fairweather) fan base. Large fan base means money. You know the rest of the story.Quote:
All I'm saying is that it's clear to anyone and everyone (anyone and everyone who's not a Pens' fan, apparently) that Bettman wants to hype of Crosby and Malkin as the new faces of the NHL and having them win the Cup in a game 7 like that was exactly what he was hoping would happen.
I also agree (as an aside and a Pens fan) that Crosby was a little brat when he didn't shake hands with ALL the Red Wings.
I watched the footage last night again (it never gets old) and he needs to make sure he does that handshake. Not really classy.
I am just surprised Crosby wasn't at the NHL awards last night. If he was there is no footage of him there.
Funny story.....
My family and I are from Pittsburgh and we took a weekend trip to Hershy Park. While there we saw lots of Stanley Cup Champs shirts, Steelers, etc. But we also were within driving distance from Philly, Baltimore, DC, etc.
One day I was wearing my Stanley Cup Champ shirt and little boy (about 12) was in front of us for the Ferris Wheel. He had on an Ovechkin T-shirt and pointed to the back of the shirt (that said Ovechkin) as we proceeded through the line.
Well, my kids, being my kids, took offense to that. My 16 year old step-daughter said keep the shirt we got the cup. His response was MVP. OK, MVP or Lord Stanley, which is better?
I'd take the cup any day of the week!
(will this thread never die? )
I'll keep the Cup! They can have both Ovechkin and the MVP award!
That's okay...I'm sure Malkin is upset at not winning MVP.
Now he only has the Conn Smythe and the Cup to keep him company. :D
Poor, poor Caps fans...they have the Alex Rodriguez of hockey.
