Walt Disney World To Cut Some 1200
to 1400 Jobs
The Walt
Disney Company announced just days ago that it would cut 4,000 jobs company
wide. Word now comes that approximately one-third of those cuts will come at
the Walt Disney World Resort according to spokeswoman Christine Castro.
Another 200 to 250 jobs will be trimmed at Disneyland in Anaheim,
California. Disney is concerned that as consumers become concerned about the
economy, theme park attendance will be effected.

Monorail Expansion
Nixed
Word around
town is that Disney has nixed the often rumored monorail expansion project
that would have connected all it's theme parks and has instead decided to
move ahead with plans for expanding it's already huge bus system. The
underlying reason? Estimates put the monorail expansion price tag around $1
Billion. At a time when many visitors are frustrated with the "lack of
magic" the already strained bus system provides... this is a major blow. To
try to combat this, Disney is also moving forward with plans for Busses On
Demand. -March 12
