Cinderella Castle to Be Transformed at Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom park has announced that Cinderella Castle will be transformed with a new look debuting in Late Summer/Early Fall 2020:

We are excited to share that her story has inspired a bold, shimmering and royal makeover of her namesake castle at the heart of Walt Disney World Resort.
{Guests} may notice this exciting work taking place as these stunning enhancements begin in the coming weeks, continuing through summer. But don’t worry! {Guests will} still get to catch all of our castle favorites like “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” and “Happily Ever After.”
This update seems similar to the recent transformation of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland.

It looks like it's going to be just painting for now. The area above the "bricks" will get a new color and the trim will be painted gold. This will most likely be done at night. Some more work will be done for the 50th.

It's not completely clear yet, but the extent should be clear in the next few weeks.
There are reports that they have started to drain the moat which could indicate a full resurfacing or it just could be for scaffolding to reach the affected areas.

Going in mid-September. Hoping to see it finished by then.

Hoping the impact on the appearance will be minimal during the day time. This April is my wife’s first visit and was really hoping she would get that “wow” moment on arriving at the end of Main Street. You only really get one shot of that!
I guess as this is mostly paintwork they may be able to just do one turret at a time overnight, then adding the gold in a similar fashion. [/hopeful]

The deeper blue is nice -- makes the turrets stand out a bit more. The gold is reminiscent of the gold they used for the Year Of A Million Dreams (YOAMD) look (except for the big 'medallion' over the clock). Not too sure of the pink, though. Seems a little 'cartoony' to me, but we will see once it is completed.

A few updates/clarifications about the transformation from the Vice President of the Magic Kingdom:

Throughout the makeover, guests will still be able to enjoy favorites inside the castle such as Cinderella’s Royal Table and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
