FW Cabins
Hi
We are staying at the FW cabins next summer. POR has been our "home" for MANY, MANY years (there are 5 of us) and we all LOVE it! However, apparently they've changed their rules since last year when we were there because I guess now, instead of being able to put all 5 of us in 1 room (like we've done for over 15 years) we would need to get 2 rooms. I was told the rooms that sleep 5 are now considered "5th sleeper" rooms and there are no "5th sleeper" rooms available for our dates. I am SUPER SAD that we aren't staying at POR but in order to save approx $1500, we will stay in the cabins
Anywho......
I haven't stayed in the cabins since probably 1986! Is there a better location over another, or I think it's called a loop (I could be wrong), that I should try to request?
Thanks,
Tracy

What types of things are you looking for to make it "better"? Do you want something close to the bus? Something far away from the hustle and bustle to relax easier? etc
I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

I guess that's my dilemma....
Since I don't know that resort, I don't know what I want.
I know I don't want to be right near a bus stop but I also don't want to walk 2 miles to get to one (again, I don't know the layout to know how far apart things are)
I know POR has several quiet pools and that's all we went to, does FW have something like that?
BTW, we will have a golf cart if that matters in suggestions.
Should we request something near the boat to MK if that's a thing?
Sorry. I'm so new to this resort and it's making me feel really silly asking so many questions....

Just about every loop is handy to a bus stop though, unless you rent a golf cart (which might not work for a family of 5) or have a car handy, you will likely need to use an internal Fort Wilderness bus to get to the park bus/boat areas. Unless things have changed, none of the cabins are located close to Pioneer Hall or the main pool. I have stayed in a cabin (though it was a number of years ago) that was very close to the quiet pool and found that to be a very good location.

Don't feel silly. Talking about Disney is what everyone on here loves to do. Ask more questions.

Both times we have stayed in a FW Cabin have been in loop 2500 (as a fluke we actually stayed in the exact same cabin both times) and we think it is the perfect place to stay! (or across the road in loop 2600).
Why? There is a bus stop at the loop, and 2500 is small, so anywhere on it is a quick and easy walk to the bus. If you have a golf cart, the bus is much less important, since you can cart around to where you want to go.
The pool and cabin laundry is right next door to 2500. We were closer to the pool in the cabin than we were at POR. However, the pools at FW aren't as good as the ones at POR, so set your expectations.
There aren't any cabin loops close to the MK boat, but there are some close to the outpost, if you're looking for a short trip to the busses for the other parks, but then you are at the far point from anything else in FW.
We are big POR fans too, but also really enjoyed our cabin stays. Hope you do too!

There are a couple of cabins close to Pioneer Hall but they may be very hard to get. They are in the 100 loop. When we stayed there (and LOVED IT), I believe we were in the 2500 loop near the quiet pool. If you have a golf cart, anywhere is fine. Riding through the resort is so enjoyable!!!
