Room Service or Money
My gf and i are having a "discussion" for our upcoming trip. I know you can decline room service and they will give you a gift card or money or something.
She wants to decline room service and wants to use the money for a dinner or something.
Me, I like room service, I am on vacation. I don't want to make the bed up, clean up after myself. I like going to the park and coming back to a nice clean fresh room.
We always tip big on our last day.
So I, and by I, I mean we, were wanting to know what your thoughts are, or what you would vote for?

It's a $10 per day credit, less one night (last I heard) and if I was on a short trip, 4 days or less, I would probably opt out, because I'm okay if the beds aren't made everyday and I can use a towel more than once. But for a week, I'd probably want them to come clean at least once, even though you'd get a $60.00 credit for a 7 night stay if you opted out. I don't know if it's an all or nothing choice, but $60 would pay for most of a pretty nice meal for two, even at Disney.

so what's 10 bucks worth to you. Its worth it to me, to walk into a nice refreshed room after a long day. New fresh towels, which I tear through when I'm on vacation, especially in a humid environment like orlando. So,for a week, its like 70 bucks. Hardly worth the inconvenience.

We waived housekeeping on our trip in April. We will never do it again. They told us it would be no problem to get fresh towels if needed and trash pick up. It took three trips to the front desk to get things arranged for a set of fresh towels and trash pick up. Not worth it to us

Personally, since I am a solo act, this would (will) be a no-brainer -- No MouseKeeping. There are enough towels in the room for me for a week and I am pretty much only in the room to sleep and shower. I don't make a lot of trash, so no need to empty the wastebaskets daily. If I can get a $70 gift card (8 night trip), I can use that for (a few) samples at Food & Wine Festival!!!

No room service worked well for us and the money was well used on an ice cream for all evening !! 70$ does not go very far at Disney .... we had fresh towels and trash pick-up whenever we wanted, so our room stayed pretty clean ...

My last visit (April/May) had me come back to my room with the floor cruddy -- quick dry mop (maybe) but dirt all over. Walked across the floor in white socks that came out cruddy! Since they put down the laminate, they should use a Swiffer Wet or some such thing to clean the floors.
Loved the results of the rehab, but need to retrain MouseKeeping for those rooms.

If she wants to decline it then she can make the bed and straighten the bathroom. Easy peasy!

I would want Mousekeeping services for sure. One of the things I love about staying at a hotel is to get a break from bed-making, straightening and cleaning. I'd save a few bucks another way.

If I might make an observation:
You most likely will not have the same Mousekeeper every day of your trip.
It seems unfair to me that
Monday "Janine" cleans your room for no tip
Tuesday "Connie" cleans your room for no tip
Wednesday "Janine" cleans your room (again) for no tip
Thursday it's "Janine" again
Friday your Mousekeeper is Allison, and she gets 5 days worth of tips.
IMHO, it is far easier to make envelopes with tip money in them before you leave home.
Also, much fairer to the people who do a job most of us do not want.
My son is a Henry. I never had a Willie or a Sam.

Tipping big on the last day doesn't mean he's not tipping the rest of the days. You could always leave a bigger tip on the last day since that housekeeper had more work to do.

When I'm on vacation, I like coming back to my room with a freshly made bed, trash removed, bathroom sink area refreshed. I feel this is Disney's way of trying to eliminate workers. The people in mousekeeping (tip or not) rely on their jobs to make a living. Will I decline it on my next trip....no. I pay quite a bit of money to stay on property and want to feel a bit pampered.

We were there for 5 days in May, at Port Orleans. We took the gift card and had no issues. Disclaimer - I couldn't care less if my bed is made. We called a couple times for trash pick up and fresh towels, and we got them quickly both times.

I'm with you. I want my Mousekeeping. We went in August, stayed 11 nights and they offered us the credit for all 11 nights. But, $110 lasts about 5 minutes in the parks for a family of 4. Just seeing the comments here, even the positive ones on taking the gift card, makes me sure we made the right decision. If they're going to still offer towels and trash pick up, I wouldn't want to have to call for them. When we get up in the morning, it's all about getting out the door, and we often close the parks. I don't want to have to call the front desk for anything. I don't want to have to think about what our room needs on a daily basis.

5 minutes if you are lucky.

Since I have to take my own towel, blanket, pillow, etc due to skin allergies, plus I clean the sink and shower too I will be happy to take the little amount of money. I do understand wanting mousekeeping tho.

Coming back to a clean room with some towel animals or Mickeys is all part of the magic to me!
