Quebec City in Winter
Husband turns the BIG 4-0 this March. He's a die hard snowboarder and I ski occasionally. I am taking him on a surprise ski and ride trip for his birthday and want to do it in Quebec. We'll be there the week of March 10th. I am thinking of getting a ski in/ski out air B&B condo at Mont St. Anne ski area for the first half of the week, and then getting a studio Air B&B in a neighborhood in Quebec City for the second half of the week before driving home. What should we check out in the city on our non-ski days? I am thinking of a food tour, which has quickly become my new favorite way to explore a new place! It will be super crazy cold, so I am guessing not a ton of outdoor touristy things will be open! Is there an Ice Hotel nearby we could check out? Other museums or historical buildings? Is it possible to eat too much poutine (asking for a friend)? What are the best neighborhoods - so far I have found very affordable and nice looking places on Air B&B in Old Quebec and Nuovo St-Rock areas.

That's wonderful you are going to Old Quebec! Bienvenue au Canada!! You will feel like you went to Europe without crossing the ocean. While I am definitely NOT a Quebec City expert (I've only been there twice, but that was 20+ years ago), there are definitely many things to do...even in the winter. Definitely be sure to see Chateau Frontenac. There are tons of museums. I did a quick "google" and all the things I remember from my trips years ago come up. You will definitely not be bored!! As for eating too much poutine....hahaha! Well, poutine is absolutely delicious but I always have the same opinion afterwards. It seemed like a good idea when I ate it, but about two hours later I can feel it just sitting there in my gut. LOL!! The only other thing I should point out is March 10th is when March Break occurs (in Ontario anyways...not sure about Quebec). That's the week kids get off of school. So my point is, it's potentially going to be a busy vacation week, so if you want to make reservations, I would do it before all the families realize they want to book hotels as well. Know what I mean?! Have a wonderful time!
