In Memoriam: Marty Sklar
Sad news from Disney tonight. Marty Sklar, long time President of Imagineering until his retirement in 2009, has passed away at the age of 83.
I had the honor of meeting him once, during Epcot's 25 anniversary.

A true legend. Thank you for the memories that you created.

I have a picture of DH and I meeting this wonderful man, but I'm not able to post it.
He was so kind and made you feel important even though he was very busy. He took time for everyone. What a blessing to have this memory of a great man! He will be missed!
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow!

Nice work, pal.

He will always be a Disney legend. So sad for anyone who loves Disney. Prayers for his family
Your attention please, the Walt Disney World Railroad is now boarding for a trip around the Magic Kingdom
-
Very sad. He was one of the few folks left on Earth who worked with Walt and truly understood what it was that made Disney different.
John and I were fortunate enough to meet him once at an IAAPA convention in Atlanta a number of years ago and I bumped into him again in WDW while they were building new Fantasyland.
Here's some pics of the IAAPA meeting

I had just seen him at the May 2017 D23 Event held at the Grand Floridian. He was a wonderful speaker, took time with each of us while signing, and mentioned he was writing a new book.
I am so glad I took the time to drive down to hear him speak.
