Long term planning AKA Star Wars/Toy Story opening guesses
My wife and I are planning the next time we travel to WDW. We decided when these new lands were announced we would wait to go again when these have opened as it will mean Pandora, Star Wars and Toy Story will be open.
So, speculation time. We are trying to plan the budget and looking at monthly paying towards this. So, we have been discussing when we think these lands will open in 2019.
So, when I look back, the new Star Tours opened in May. Pandora will also open in May. However, the new Fantasyland opened in December. So, there isn't a lot of consistency.
So, speculation time will they try to get these lands open for the usually busy Summer season or will they need the whole year of 2019 to complete these lands?
Now, we are thinking on visiting about the third week of August in 2018. If I had to tender a guess, I would think they would want these lands to open by Memorial Day of 2019 to get the Summer crowds and get DHS back up and running as a full day park as soon as possible in that year.
I am just curious what others here thought?

While May 4th would be a cool day for an opening, my guess is that if they are shooting for a May opening, it will be May 25th. Not only is that the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend (yep, it's really that early in 2019), but May 25th was also the opening day for Star Wars in 1977.
That would hit not only an important date in Star Wars history, but also the start of the summer season at WDW.
That, in my mind, is the earliest we could hope for. I would not be at all surprised if it doesn't fully open until 2020.

Bob Iger extended until July 2019. I think it's safe to say he wants to be the one cutting the ribbon at Star Wars Land! There's no way he would let his successor do that.
So I think May-July 2019 seems like a very reasonable guess.

As I said, I would expect that, too. While May 4 has a tongue-in-cheek novelty to it, I think May 25 is more on track to what they would want to do. It would create a great synergy with the franchise and the new land. And I do hope this is the plan as the end of August is our target date so that would work out well.
I will say this, I am surprised there hasn't been much word about Toy Story Land and the possible opening dates for that.

Ok, Summer of 2018. That's great news but still, Disney has been awfully quiet regarding this land. Especially since the reports of the budget being cut for this area.

All the emphasis has been on Star Wars "Land"...Has anything gone 'vertical' for TSL yet?

Nice, I'm hoping this turns out to be accurate. I thought I was just going to miss this opening.

Yes. The coaster supports have been in place for a few weeks now (the cement for the support pieces). I saw an aerial photo of the construction site and you can see the shape of the coaster. The alien spinner ride is an easy build as well...it will be like the structure for the teacups. The ride can basically be dropped in since it's mostly prefab. There is not much to this land, so it can be built very quickly.

Also, seems like Disneyland SW land is way more advanced than WDW. I have heard DL Star Wars land will open first, followed by WDW's a few months later. DL: May 2019, WDW: December 2019.
