AP guidance
After many Disney trips, our family is ready to buy our first set of annual passes. We just aren't sure when to buy to get the most bang for our buck or the best price.
We just missed the bonus 13th month that ended beginning of January. We decided to wait to see if another discount was released but then they raised the price this week by $50 a ticket (we are DVC and will get the gold pass).
How often does Disney tend to release AP discounts/promotions in the past? Our next trip to activate them won't be until October. Do we wait and see or would you just buy them now before another price increase?

I doubt there will be another price increase before October. The best thing would be to just buy a regular discounted packaged now. Then in October before you leave you can apply the price of the trip tickets to the AP and the AP will start in October for you. That way if a discount is released between now and then you'll be able to take advantage of it with no problem.

I'd wait until December so you get the 13th month free.

This is the current offer:
Limited-Time Annual Pass Offer
Passholders can enjoy a special offer in celebration of the 45th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort! When you renew your Walt Disney World annual pass before it expires with an original anniversary date on or before October 1, 2017, you'll get a 13-month pass! That gives you an extra month to experience the magic.
NOTE: Offer not valid for water park passes. Renewal pass valid for 13 consecutive months by extending pass anniversary date by 30 days. Blockout dates apply to certain pass types. Passes are nontransferable and nonrefundable.
