Carry on
Thinking of packing my carry on with mostly snack food etc for our room as we will be staying in the Suites at AofA. does the airline let food go on the plane?

Food yes, liquids or "paste" no. So, for things like crackers, bread, etc. you'll be fine Things like peanut butter and jelly will most likely cause issues. Those can go in your checked luggage though.

From the TSA website:
FOOD
Whether for a long flight or for your kids, food is sometimes an absolute must. You are permitted to bring food on the plane. These foods must be wrapped or in a container when going through security, and they will need to be X-rayed. Food containers may also be counted as your personal item by your airline, so be warned. Obviously, you can’t bring liquids (more than 3.4 ounces) through security, so any liquid food or beverage may not be carried on: alcohol, maple syrup, jams and jellies, salad dressing, creamy dips, yogurt, salsa, and soups to name a few. You can however bring on cake and fresh fruit for what it’s worth.

Have you thought of shipping your snacks? I've done that before. It was one less bag to deal with. They will hold it at the front desk for you. All you have to do is address the package to yourself c/o the resort. Then put a note in the lower left corner that says "Hold for check in" and the date you are checking in.
Upcoming:
Jan/Feb 2018
Animal Kingdom Lodge - 2017
Cypress Palms - 2014
Port Orleans - French Quarter - 2006
Bonnet Creek Resort - 2004, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2016
Paradise Pier (Disneyland) - 2003
Coronado Springs - 2001
Wilderness Lodge - 2000
Dixie Landings (now Port Orleans - Riverside) - 1999

I agree with mailing them. We have done that before and decorated the box with all sorts of Disney stickers. It was pretty cool to claim the box once we arrived. The kids loved it !!

In the seemingly unending money grab, WDW charges for packages received and held for your arrival. From their website:
Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels can receive mail throughout their stay. Occasionally, some Guests choose to ship items in advance of their vacation to help save luggage space. If you intend to receive mail during your vacation, be sure the letter or package:
- Includes the mailing address of your Disney Resort Hotel
- Clearly features the word “Guest” on the front and the date of your arrival
Please note that a $5 per package handling fee may apply to all packages that are received through the Front Desk or are delivered to your Disney Resort hotel room.

Oh my, I did not know that. We've never been charged but it's been a few years that we've mailed a box to the resort .... but 5$ is a lot cheaper than adding an extra bag to either check or carry on ....

The charge is a fairly recent addition, I believe within the last six months or so.

That should be no problem, as long as there are no liquid or gels.

Someone recently resurrected a thread where we had been discussing this charge going back to 2011. Seems like it was hit or miss maybe in the past, but where there'es money, Mickey's outstretched hand is not far behind.
