Turkey Legs to be removed at Disney's Hollywood Studios on 8/2/16
It has been internally announced at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that one of the Sunset Blvd. meal time mainstays will be closing for good in less than two weeks.
Toluca Legs Turkey Co. will permanently cease operation on August 2, 2016 ending the offering of Turkey Legs at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The location will re-open as Sunshine Day Café and become a thematic extension of the nearby Sunset Ranch Market offering an “all-new menu inspired by a day at the market”.
Turkey Legs remain available at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

But... But...
The Toluca Legs pun is so...
Delicious!
Has all semblance of creativity and whimsy completely disappeared at WDW?

What's up with the turkey legs?
I was reading that they are no longer available at the Studios or Animal Kingdom parks. Has anyone heard why? Just curious since they are favorite treat for lots of folks.

I'm not sure, but if they take them out of the MK, I'm afraid my husband is going to challenge someone to a throwdown.

No official explanation, but there has been a recent trend of making the dining options at each park less ubiquitous.

Huh? What's the appeal in that?

One argument is that unique dining experiences help to underscore the Story in each specific themed area.
Another would be that if you can find certain items at every park, they become less special. Part of the allure of certain food items is that they can only be found at certain restaurants; if they are available everywhere they loose part of their appeal.
The counter-argument would be that providing the same items adds comfort in consistency for Guests in that certain staples could be found at all dining locations.
Generally, Disney seems to try to find balance in providing unique options while still providing consistent staples.
Lately, Disney seems to be trying to correct several years worth of tilting the scale too far to the same-food-everywhere side.

That seems contrary to what they spent the last decade doing. They spent the past decade making everything as generic as possible under the bland Disney Parks banner. If they are finally beginning to understand the folly of that, then I suppose it is better they learned it eventually than never at all.

My issue with this is that signature items are always special and so special they should be at every park.....For instance, a Mickey Bar is a signature item and I wouldn't feel I'd be at a Disney park if they didn't have a Mickey Bar.....certain things like Tonga Toast, yes keep it at the Polynesian. But to me Turkey legs were a sign of Disney. Thanks for the explanation, though
