Cooling towels
Does anyone have a specific brand of cooling towel that works for them in the parks? I've read that some feel slimy or too wet. Thanks in advance!

Disney sells Frosty Towels on property for about $8 each.
Can't tell you either way if they are good or bad. I found the best way to stay cool is to drink lots of water. Cold water is best, we used to freeze a bottle each before hitting the park. It would be thawed by about 11am.

We bought these once. Nothing more than a white washcloth that is wet.
I just bought this from Amazon. It has pretty good reviews, I like the little case and clip, and it matches my MagicBand .

We have Frogg Togg chilly pads and cooling towels. They work quite well, I have not had a problem with them being slimy.

We are Frogg Togg people too, and they have really helped during our August trips.
You can usually find them for a very decent price, and we'd had no issues with slime or wetness.

We have also used Frogg Togg's and they worked just fine. I don't think we've ever used them for a Disney trip, but have used them for other trips and our kids sporting events.
I recently read that Disney is now selling a similar item in it's parks.

We purchased a couple at Lowes....Endurocool. They also sell hats there too; my son just bought a camo bucket hat that is made of the same fabric that you wet and put on your head. Don't know if the hat works, but the towels did our last summer trip to WDW. Important not to wash in fabric softener, just wash with soap and water. Ours never got a slimy feel.

When we were at WDW in August a few years ago I used a BanDoo and it worked very well. Never slimey, stayed wet and cool a long time, and came in a variety of colours.

We buy Enduracool brand also. Our son is a boy scout so we use them frequently for hikes, camping etc. Never had a problem and they do keep you cool.

Yeah, i've tried a few. I think they work better w/ cold bottled water than the local stuff. I think the Fla soft water (from my view) feels funnier on them. But either way, they'll work.

Tried the frogg togg things. We went in August and did not work at all. Don't understand how they worked for others. Do not waist your money. Unfortunetly, when its hot, its hot. Drink plenty of water, take a break and use indoor events or go back to hotel for a swim. Mini handheld fans were nice too for standing in lines.

We have those, too. In addition to the parks, we use them when doing yard work, which can be brutal here in Florida. They work well for us, and we've never had a problem with them feeling slimy.

Dr. Cool works great and they sell headbands too. Check them out on Amazon by using the sponsors link here on Intercot (on the left column). They gave out sample strips at the runDisney races and they work really well. Get them wet and then snap the fabric. Instant cool.

Mueller Sports Med makes the "Mueller Kold" towel. You can find these at sporting goods stores or WalGreen's.

There have been numerous consumer tests and studies on these things. They work no better than a cheap cotton towel. You put cool water in it and put it around your neck and you feel cool for a few minutes until the water in the towel combined with your sweat reach an equilibrium. They make them out of synthetics and call them fancy names for marketing purposes so you the consumer will think they are magic towels and pay $15 or more for a $1 product.
Here is the kicker, once the cool water in them warms up and reaches equilibrium with your body temperature and the ambient air temperature, they actually hold heat and keep sweat from evaporating from your body in the area where you have the towel. They actually start keeping you warmer instead of cooler.
Your money would be best spent on sport apparel like Nike Dri-Fit type shirts. They breathe far better than cotton which allows air to move through them and sweat to evaporate more quickly. That and drinking cold water/liquids. Putting cold liquids in and doing anything to allow air movement and sweat evaporation = you feel cooler.
It is all really just simple physics and chemistry.
