The news broke my heart. Such a wonderful actor. I love him in every role he portrayed. Several of my favorite films are in part because of him. Galaxy Quest is my all-time favorite. If you haven't seen "Bottle Shock", you should check it out. RIP Mr. Rickman. "By Grabthar's hammer, by the Sons of Warvan, you shall be avenged!" ―Dr. Lazarus

While he was, of course, amazing as Snape, there is one roll he played that was absolutely hilarious... Alexander Dane (a.k.a. Dr. Lazarus) in Galaxy Quest. He was a classically trained British actor in that movie (not a stretch), but hated that he had to do the ComicCon gamut as a washed-up Sci-Fi TV show actor. He was perfect!

He was very good in Love Actually (although I didn't like his character that much). But I loved him as Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility--loads better than Hugh Grant. I think I'll watch it again tonight. RIP, Alan Rickman.
