Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Smoltz and Biggio elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame
Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz and Craig Biggio have been elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Baseball writers elected four players for the first time since 1955, with Martinez, Johnson and Smoltz earning induction on the first try Tuesday. Biggio made it on the third attempt after falling two votes shy last year.
The quartet will be inducted in Cooperstown on July 26.
The Baseball Writers' Association of America had not given four players the necessary 75 percent in a single year since selecting Joe DiMaggio, Gabby Hartnett, Ted Lyons and Dazzy Vance 60 years earlier.
Johnson, a five-time Cy Young Award winner, was selected on 97.3 percent of the 549 ballots cast this year.
Martinez, who won three Cy Young Awards, was on 91.1 percent of the ballots while Smoltz and Biggio received 82.9 and 82.7 percent of the votes, respectively.

He will be there next year for sure! He needs 28 votes and should get them.
Though he started out as a Dodger, he was the face of the organization for a longtime...just like David Wright is today.
Next year Mike!!

I firmly believe he gets in next year, 2017 at the latest.

Whether or not they are tied to PEDs, if they have the numbers, the players should get into the HOF.
The baseball writers shouldn't play the part of moralists. Look at the numbers and accomplishments, ignore what the players may have done, and vote on entry into the Hall. Simple as that.

I'm sorry, but I feel Piazza should have been voted in first over a couple of those guys

No doubt he should have been in. One of the greatest offensive catchers ever
And Jeff Bagwell as well.
But both have PED suspicions in the eyes of the BBWA voters. And it's ridiculous that they would be kept out because of that thinking.
Tim Raines should be in the HOF too.
