Disney VISA Rewards Card question
My daughter redeemed her rewards card thinking she would be making a trip to The World in the very near future. As things turned out, she is unable to go until at least next Fall. Her rewards card will expire at the end of this year. Any suggestions on how best to use this so she won't be out the value of the card?

she can book next fall right now on the Disney site if she is uncertain as to when she might be able to turn the reward cards into Disney gift cards those don't have an expiration date to them

Buy from the Disney Store website gift card(s) equal to the value of her Reward Dollars, and just use the Rewards Card to pay for the gift cards. The gift cards never expire and have no fees.

Great tip to know you can use the reward dollars to buy giftcards. I just assumed that since it was kind of like a giftcard already that would not be allowed.

They look like a gift card but are treated like a credit card which is why they have an expiration date to them... odd i know

We do the same. I usually order the cards about a month in advance if my old ones have expired, but I only put the min amt on them, then I wait until the last possible second to load the rest of the points on them. You can also obviously transfer points to the cards from anywhere, so for example on our upcoming trip, my statements are issued on the 10th of the month, which is when those points will become available. Our trip starts on the 9th, so I will load all my available points before we leave, use those towards my hotel, then when my statement is out the next day, load those points up to the card as well and use those elsewhere (food, merch, etc.)

I do the same but have even waited until arrival at WDW to transfer the points. Last year while at DL I ended up transferring points in the gift shop as I was about to make a purchase.

Yep - another vote for purchasing a gift card. You can go on-line (can't remember which website I used but I know I googled "Disney Gift Card Purchase" and I could tell the official site came up) Just did it this past month as we have an upcoming trip and our rewards card expires in December - so just transferred the amount onto a card. Very simple!!
