Swan and Dolphin...it's about the ambiance.
The promenade at night is beautiful
Don't look at it as shabby-look at it as chic.
For me, it's on the "list" because of it's history...not to mention, you are so close to the Boardwalk area so you can hit Jelly Rolls and stumble back to your hotel

I liked Dolphin. Wouldn’t take little kids but would take teens. Adults only sure. The cost is a little more than a moderate with walk-in access to EPCOT, Boardwalk and (a little longer) DHS.
Bluezoo is a very nice restaurant. Get the dancing fish. Kimonos is fun for Karaoke and good sushi. The pool is large and quiet.
The stumbling back issue referred to above cannot be overemphasized. If you plan to drink around the world, the Swan/Dolphin lets you avoid the “bus ride of shame”.
At a minimum of $50 less than the other Epcot area properties it’s like the first round is on Starwood.

We love the Dolphin, great transportation, location, food choices, pools/activities. We aren't picky, but have never noticed carpets or anything 'drabby'.

We stayed at the Swan two years ago. Our room was "drabby" for sure. We were unimpressed overall and I'm not sure I'd ever stay there again but I'll never say never.

We stayed at Swan 3 years ago, and loved it. Our rooms weren't "drabby" at all. And I am picky! Lol! The beds were super comfy. Restaurants were all good, and the pool very nice. My favorite part is the location. We are Epcot people, so loved the easy ferry ride to Epcot to enter via the Gateway. Enjoyed an evening stroll along the boardwalk several nights of our trip. Overall, a really enjoyable stay. Good luck!

We stayed at the Dolphin two years ago and were not impressed by the rooms or the pool. While the location can't be beat, we will not likely return.

The pool we were SUPER unimpressed with. It was covered in green slime and the lifeguards were a joke.

We stayed at the Swan and thought it was a hidden gem! The location was excellent for us. The proximity to HS and Epcot for the price was quite a value. We liked the Grotto pool-didn't think it was slimy. Didn't miss the Disney Theme. Our kids had no problem with it either.

I've stayed in the Dolphin three times in the past four years. I've had two good clean fresh looking rooms, and one that wasn't great and was indeed shabby (but the view made up for it, looking over the water toward Epcot). The hallways do look a tad run down, but the lobby is kind of fun. The bar and restaurants are great, between Swan and Dolphin. And the pool looked fine to me when I was there, though I didn't get in. We also had conference rates, so it was well worth the price, not bad at all.
I think it's great for the location/transportation options. I love being in that area, and we've had much better stays at the Dolphin than our one stay at the Beach Club. So, yes, I would go for it.

The Swan and Dolphin are okay. Their biggest pro is their location and convenience factor. Not as nice a comparable hotel (a lesser Sheraton). The boats are a nice way to travel though.
Stay if you can get a good price.

We love the Dolphin. We usually stay once a month for a weekend. We usually earn a few free nights a year at the resort with points. We have always found the staff accomodating and we love the views from the top floors. Picabu is a good 24hour food source, and Bluezoo is great for adults. We love the walk to Epcot via the Boardwalk or Yacht and Beach Clubs. Boat service is good to DHS or you can make the walk. We actually love the pool and the waterfall grotto is relaxing. Love the ability to walk to World Showcase and eat. They have undergone a few renovations over the last couple of years and it looked great a few weeks ago. They had even cleaned and painted the big fountains. After dozens of trips to the Dolphin and a couple to the Swan, I cannot think of anything bad to say about them....and the price is right!
