    Default Ticket use question

I am a bit confused about something and I hope someone here can help. When we go we always get the park hopper tickets my friend always get the non hopper tickets. They are going this summer and the other day we were discussing her plans for their week. Keep in mind that I know they always get the non park hopper ticket so as she is telling me about their plans for the week she mentions they are going to 1 park in the morning and another for the evening several times during their week, so I thought she was getting the hopper this trip. She says no they are getting a 10 day pass because it is cheaper than a 6 day hopper and they are going use those extra days on their pass to essentially use as a hopper ticket.
Does that work? Have I been spending extra money all this time on a park hopper and I could get "extra" days on my ticket to use as a hopper? If so I feel like an idiot

It won't work, so I guess your friend is the idiot...

The ticket will not allow the use of multiple days on the same pass, you must get the Hopper in order to park hop, no way around it.

Oh I feel better. It makes sense otherwise no one would get the PH ticket.
Now I need to figure out the best way to let her know this info.
What would happen if they got to their second park and tried to get in, do they tell you you have to upgrade to a PH if you want to get in?

They will tell her that in order to get in she will need to add the PH or buy another ticket.

Yep, the turnstyle turns red, the CM will tell them they have already used their ticket at XXXX park and they will be directed (via the Disney two finger point) to the ticket booth to purchase the park hopper option if they want to get into the second park. Those "extra" days will go to waste unless she also wants to purchase non expiration which makes the ticket closer in price to an Annual Pass than the ticket she really needed to do what she wants.

Tell them Disney is smarter than her and they figured this out back in 2004ish or whenever they changed to the MYW tickets.

A number of folks have asked if they can do this and the answer is a decided NO. I'm sorry your friend decided they had figured out a way '"around' the rules. Unfortunately, it looks like it will turn out to be an expensive lesson for them.

Thank you for your help. I will let her know gently. When she told me her plan I wanted to tell her right away she couldn't do that but then I thought well maybe I was wrong. It's going to be a difficult discussion as she thinks she knows all the ins and outs of Disney. I guess this is one she didn't know about.
Thanks again, you guys are great
