I'm sure I'm just missing it, but I don't see where it says Fastpass on there anywhere?

If you dig around the site, you will find that Disney has filed the same type of permit for each and every FastPass ride - Splash, Soarin, Living with the Land, Rock 'n Roller Coaster, etc, etc, etc. and, on each one, the permit calls it "Legacy Removal". I could be wrong, but I just put 2 and 2 together and assumed it was the removal of the old FastPass system.

I'm pretty convinced by it. I don't know if there is anything else that they would all have in common. Full steam ahead with FP+. I suppose this will finally put a nail in all those "you don't know they won't keep FP around" arguments that come up.

Yeah when you throw it all together in context it's pretty clear that's what it's for.
Thanks for clarifying!

I expected the machines to be gone/not working by my next trip in May. This just confirms it. Since I am going with people who don't want to plan fp's ahead of time we will just have to take what's left. Good thing we are going off season
Three years in Connecticut and loving it
Next trip in Jan 2017 I hope!

I thought that people who didn't use the RFID bracelet would still be able to use the old fastpass system. If they are removing the fastpass kiosks, how is that going to be possible. What about people who live in Florida who have annual passes and just drop in whenever they want, are they not gonna be able to use any fastpasses that day?

I seem to recall seeing a recent article that indicated that the fastpass plus system was soon going to be introduced to off site guests and annual passholders. In the interim, as they turn off the old fastpass machines, folks will need to visit the new fastpass+ kiosks in order to get same day fastpasses. Unfortunately, when we were just recently there, there did not seem to be many of these kiosk areas and a few were almost hidden. Hopefully, they will be expanding the kiosk areas.

My guess would be that the FP+ kiosk will appear where the old FP machine are since power and LAN is already supplied to these areas.
At the moment we too think that the availability of FP+ machines is very restrictive considering that FP+ is the only option for all guests in AK.
Soarin' to Tower

You have two different questions:
AP holders will be able to link their passes to the MDE app and will be able to book FP+ Ahead of their WDW visit. But first they must stay at least one night at a Disney resort. After that they can make FP+ selections for seven consecutive days in the future.
Day trippers who just arrive for a day in the parks will be given a plastic RFID card for park admission. The card can also be used at FP+ kiosks throughout the park to make same day FP selections. Once your FP+ selections are loaded on the card it can be used to enter the FP queue at the rides, the same as the wristbands used by Disney resort guests.

Location of FP machines
I had the impression that the new fastpass +
kiosks would be fewer and not associated with specific rides. That would be a boon to people who want to get fastpasses for children without a meltdown for not riding "RIGHT NOW". I hope they put at least one in each MK land.

The new FP+ kiosks will allow you to obtain FP+ for any ride at that park, not just the ride it is next to. Basically, every ride at each park is FP+ enabled, so it wouldn't make sense to place a kiosk next to each ride.
