Thanks everyone! 6 days away. Still leaning towards the Veggie burger after all the input.

...But a shake and onion rings may come into play, as well.

    Atmosphere: awesome
    Food: okay

Go with fool-proof. Steak would probably work. We get sandwiches (Reuben or salmon BLT) or burgers. They are okay. Shakes are good. Onion rings etc. good. The pasta was tasteless. I have tried more adventurous entrees and they were not good. Go for the fun of it, not food execution.

The food is horrible. But you aren't there for the food, but rather the atmosphere. Still a must try once, and its about like eating at Denny's or Applebees (at least to me).

Atmosphere is great! Just a fun restaurant. I have tried the pasta and did not really care for it. I did however really love the milkshake and onion rings! The ribs and burgers both are good choices also.

Ate here on my last trip. My Dad and I had the steak and it was one of my favorite meals of the trip. I loved the atmosphere and I went on this trip without my kids so I loved watching the zoned out exhausted kids watching the movie.

I will do this again on my next family trip cant wait to eat with my girls in the cars watching old sci fi movies.

I went for the first time on my last trip (9-13-13). We had advanced adr's here. It was my husbands choice to try it out. We both loved the atmosphere! and the food we thought it was good also. We had buffalo pop corn chicken and onion rings to share for an appetizer. For an entree I had a burger with fries and my husband had the shrimp pasta which he really enjoyed. Then for dessert we shared the warm apple crumble(YUM)!

Hi all. Sadly, I'm already back from my little trip.

At the Sci-Fi, I ended up having the Veggie Burger. I substituted onion rings for the sweet potato fries. There was a $2 charge, but I did not care b/c I was on the dining plan (which I'd gotten free). Worth my $2.

It was a great burger!!! I love that they basically dressed an awesome salad right on top of it, in the bun. And the onion rings hit the spot so well. I wasn't feeling well this day and it was just the right amount of grease to make me happy.

Ended with a traditional ice cream sundae. Loved it. Can't really go wrong there.

The men in my party both ordered the ribs and had high praise!

Thanks again for all the tips and suggestions.

PS - Favorite movie on the reel: "The Cat Who Hated People". HYSTERICAL.

Glad I persuaded you! Wasn't the arugula on top of the burger delicious?

I have found that Disney doesn't do veggie burgers very well (even on the cruise), but I have never tried one here.

My major problem is that they are always soft and mushy. How was the burger at the SciFi as far as texture.

We will be there in a couple of weeks and may try it depending on your answer.

I'd say it was a soft burger. Definitely a frozen patty or sorts. BUT they off set it w/ the toppings, including a crunchy cucumber. Honestly, for me, a veggie lover (not a vegetarian), it was really enjoyable. Especially keeping in mind that you're at the Sci-Fi for the vibe and experience, moreover. Hope that helps!

In that case I will not be getting it since it sounds like their usual way of cooking it. I can't understand why after all these years they can't get them right. They don't need to be soft if cooked the right way. The Rainforest Café has/had a great veggie burger. It wasn't soft and they also topped it with a salad complete with dressing.

I understand that some people don't mind the soft patties and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the info.

If you're not a Vegetarian, might I suggest the ribs, as other here have? My DH and his friend BOTH had them. Big fans. My other friend, with us, had the ribs in the past and suggested them w/ high praise.

I am a vegetarian....but thanks anyway. I will probably stick to the soup, since we are going for lunch and don't want anything too heavy. That way I will have room for a shake too.

Definitely not my favorite food, but my daughter loves it, but the pasta is fine for me. I substituted shrimp for the chicken last time and I really enjoyed it. It is on our list for our trip in 2 weeks!

I disagree I think the veggie burger was plump and firm, not soft. It is worth a try.

We did not have any of the specialty items, but had some of the best burgers there. You can't go wrong if you opt for that. It is such a neat place to eat. Have a great time!

I agree with Kristen, when I had the veggie burger at SciFi a little over a year ago, I thought it was a soft patty, definitely not firm. And while it was very tasty, it literally fell apart as I ate it. My son had the pasta with shrimp and really liked it. He really wished that he could have taken his leftovers back to the hotel room, but that would have meant carting it around the park for the rest of the day, so we left it there.

Rita, were you talking about the BLT soup? I think they took it off the menu. :/
