A little dizzy.....
So on 9/1 we went to animal kingdom and after riding expedition everest, I felt a little dizzy but it went away as soon as I started walking.
We then rode primeval whirl and my I got very very dizzy (who doesn't) and my vision was blurred for a moment while riding (like I couldn't focus) I almost felt like I wouldn't be able to walk off the ride!!
On Sunday we hit magic kingdom and stopped for lunch. I noticed that I was experiencing motion sickness while sitting there. Sort of felt like I was still moving while stationary.
I am now back in the real world (came home last night) and still feel this way!! Has anyone experienced this and how long did it last!?
Important to note: did Disney dream cruise in march 2012 and had "sea legs" for 5-6 days after the cruise.
Help!!!

Lindsey, are you prone to vertigo? I had a very bad case several years ago and it's pretty miserable. It has to do with your inner ear and your equilibrium, and if things get out of whack, you can feel woozy for days, sometimes weeks. Could it be possible that something shifted in your ear when you rode Everest?
Of course it also could be something else. Personally if this is your first time experiencing something like this, I'd get it checked out with the doctor. Better safe...

So funny - we were just talking about this. It seems the older I get, the more this happens. its like my equillibrium (sp?) is off. To be honest with you, that feeling (dizzy at times) hasn't really gone away since our last trip (Nov 2011). I mean, I'm not dizzy all the time. Just if I watch kids swing or watch some one rock in a rocking chair.
I will say this, I do have borderline high blood pressure and monitor it very closely. Maybe you should check yours out. Hope you feel better soon.

My DW has similar issues on a past trip. Turned out that she had a sinus / ear infection....

I was told by a physician that while your aging as a child through a young adult, your brain continues to grow and push against your skull. However, some time in your 20's the growth and the push slows down and even stops. That means the brain is floating a little more loosely as we get older, which causes us to be more prone to being dizzy from high velocity rides.
That's what I was told, anyway.

I'd suggest a visit to your doctor might be in order. As another poster suggested, it could be something like an ear or sinus infection or something a little more complicated, like vertigo, as another poster suggested. It could be any of these or any number of other things or nothing at all. Still, I would think your doctor could help determine what is causing this issue for you.

When I was in high school, a friend talked me into trying the Zipper (a carnival ride). I had motion sickness for about three days. It was just awful. I hope you feel better soon.

Ever since I had kids I cant do rides that go around like the tea cups. I can still do Dumbo and Magic Carpets and Carosel (tho that one, once in a while I need to concentrate on the kids or what is in front of me rather than the scenery around me) No spinning tho or I am queasy for quite a few hours. And it has gotten worse with each child (3 now) or maybe it is just age...

Feeling queasy or dizzy for a few hours after a ride is one thing. But 5 days later? I'd be getting myself checked out by my doctor.

Probably nothing, but I would see a doctor with symptoms that lingered that long.

I agree with the others, I would go get it checked out by your doctor since it's been happening for days now. At least he or she can let you know what it is, and the best way to deal with it. Better to be safe, in my opinion.

I know what you mean. I have a lot of sinus issues and the dizziness has gotten worse as I've gotten older. I will get dizzy for no apparent reason at all. I've been checked out for a lot of different probable causes and it's always come down to: allergies/sinus, or "anxiety". Some very harmless sinus congestion can really mess up the fluid in your inner ear and cause all kinds of symptoms (dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, etc.)
I used to be a gymnast as a kid. I spent about 1/2 my life upside down. Now, if I even try to hang my head upside down for even a second, the room spins for a few minutes afterwards. It's awful. I can't even get up quickly from a laying down position without getting dizzy. I blame it on getting old.
Luckily, I can still ride my favorite rides, but many of them make me feel dizzy when I get off, where that was not the case years ago.

First time I had ever experienced motion sickness/dizziness was when staying at Portofino at Universal. We had the front of the line privileges. Well, this year my youngest son was big enough to ride Hulk. So, we went on it four times in a row with no wait. This was early in the morning and I ended up not being functional until 1pm. We then went to stay on site at WL a couple of days later. We went to Epcot and I almost lost my lunch on Soarin. I could not believe this was happening. This had never happened before.
Since then, now about 6 years later I still get these episodes. Last time I rode Soarin I said to myself that this might be the last time. When Avatar came out we went to Imax. Within 5 minutes I was woozy. Now I cannot watch Imax movies. I am young at heart but closer to 50 than I am to 40.

So the culprit was primeval whirl!!!!
Doc said all that spinning makes your inner ears get out of whack! The crystals in your ear are still communicating with your brain that you are still spinning around in circles! Until the crystals get back in line, you will have the dizziness! She said it takes around a week. She also said I have a very sensitive inner ear system and this is also the reason I had "sea legs" when I exited the Disney dream cruise in march of this year. (felt this same way for 6 days!!)
Relived to know it's only my inner ear acting up, learned my lesson NOT to ever ride primeval whirl again

Unfortunately for you, probably not just Primeval Whirl, but any ride that spins or would mess with your equilibrium. You don't want to go through that again!
I get bummed when I take my kids to theme parks and know I can't go on rides that I would otherwise love, if not for the possibility of . What stinks is when people tell you it's all in your head. It's not -- it's in my ear!!

Probably wise to avoid spinning rides in the future, though! I have a teacher colleague who had exactly what you described, but hers persisted for several months and she had to take a medical leave. She is VERY careful about any activity that might re-trigger it now! Fortunately (?) for me, I mainly just get queasy if a ride is too spinny - sure hope I don't have trouble when I go this month!
