    Default Moderate Resorts

Our trip is planned for December 13-23. We finally got our free dining and were planning on staying at AoA but of course the free dining excludes all family suites and all of AoA. Therefore, we are looking at other options of where to stay. Last year we stayed at Coronado Springs and we liked it but not sure if we want to stay there again this year or branch out. My question to you fellow disney lovers is what is your favorite Moderate resort and why?

p.s.- If you know of one of the Moderates that has the walkup counters with Mickey Waffles please let me know

Our favorite moderate is the POFQ. I love the small size and the feel of the resort. I know we got Mickey waffles in the food court in December Since the refurb it is perfect...queen beds! Plus it is nice to walk along the river to POR or to take the boat to DTD at night or for an afternoon break.

You may want to check, but, for our dates POFQ is not included with free dining.

That's stange. For the week we booked, we could only get POFQ. CBR and CSR was off the list.

My preference is Coronado, but I haven't been to POFQ yet. I'm looking forward to it as it always gets rave reviews. The bottom of my list is Riverside. CBR is a fun resort.

I just updated my ressie for PORFQ w/ the free dining. We check in on 12/10. It wasn't a problem.

My personal favorite is Port Orleans Riverside, but Coronado Springs is a close second. Having said that, I honestly don't believe you can go wrong with any of the four choices because POFQ and CBR look great too (I've visited both.) I really love the moderate level resorts!

    Good luck.

POFQ would be my choice. It's small and compact and nicely themed. The food court has waffles and beignets

Agreed with the others. We have never stayed at POFQ, but we sneak over to the food court and get beignets for breakfast. We have stayed at POR and CS. We prefer POR, which has a very good food court (possibly the best food court of any WDW resort), a fun pool, boat transportation to DTD, and of course, the one and only Bob Jackson in the River Roost Lounge.

The only drawback to POR, in my opinion, is the size of the resort. But the theming is done so well that I find the walk from the outer buildings to the main building nice and relaxing.

We loved POFQ! But to be honest we have heard good things about POR and CSR, too!

Have a great time, no matter where you will stay you will be in WDW and that is wonderful!

I agree with all Mods being totally acceptable.

We like CBR because it's clean, fun beachy theme, & staff are polite everywhere.

CSR has central air. The theming is beautiful. The breakfast is surprisingly good. You get a lot for your $$.

POFQ - size makes it great.

POR - nice rooms, food court is great Atmosphere is really pretty when you want that evening walk.

I have stayed at all of the moderates and my favorites are POFQ & POR, hands down. You can get mickey waffles for breakfast at both.. Mickey Waffles are my FAVE!!!! I just love everything about both of these resorts.. especially POFQ for its small size & charm, and the boats to DTD.

We have stayed at three Moderates and of the three POFQ was my least favorite; as a matter of fact, of all the resorts it's my least favorite. I have to say that CSR I really liked, my family prefered CBR..but everyone has their thing.

I agree with everything you said, particularly about the food court. It was an excellent "home base" for a meal or snack when we needed one back at the resort, though admittedly it could get very crowded at times.

I also wanted to add that Boatwright's was a hidden gem. We always eat at the home resort on our first day of a trip, and Boatwright's was the pleasant surprise of our 2010 trip.

POFQ is a great, compact moderate resort. They DO have Mickey waffles at the walk up (only restaurant they have) counter service place.

Any of the Mods are going to be good - they each have their own pros and cons.
