Had a feeling this would happen. Park has been busy each time I went and Carsland hadn't opened yet. Lucky I went down last week to renew.

I heard that ALL the tickets are going up, including the day passes.

I've been on the fence whether to renew this year or not- it's a chore to get down there from San Francisco. This decided me. I will not be renewing.

That is insane. I paid a little bit more than that this year for my Premier pass. This means that will probably go up too. I was already at the top of what I could spend on a ticket and now I'm priced out of the market. I guess my weekend trips are a thing of the past.
-
Ouch! That is a tough one to swallow. Sorta glad we don't live there anymore. :/

Wondering if they are trying to thin out the AP's again. They've done that in the past.
-
I bought a gift voucher for a Premium AP at the old price last night.

I wonder if DVC will give a bigger discount now like they do at WDW? I think the new prices are higher than at WDW for a premium pass now.

This is outrageous. I really hate that they try and spin it saying "This is still a great value for a superior product". You can get a AP for Knotts, Universal, & Magic Moutain and still not pay as much as the $650 I would have to pay if I renew my pass. I have until Jan 1st until I renew all 4 passes for my family. If I see a decrease in attendence at the parks, maybe I would consider renewing at a lower tier pass.
I was there for 3 hrs on Saturday afternoon and left because the crowds were insane (45 min for POC.. No Thank you). I live 2 hrs away and usually make a weekend at the resort using my DVC points or stay at a hotel on Harbor. I know I am ranting, but couldnt they have Grandfathered pricing?
Thanks for letting me share my rant

I think the crowds for the last few months helped them justify it. If there is this many with most of DCA closed, what will they do with a new Carsland. I think this big of a jump and second price hike in less than a year is crazy.
Wonder if that dual AP pass of WDW and Disneyland will stay the same. Its probably only $100 more to get both of those now.

It did go up to $849 I believe.

Disney shot themselves in the foot when they started offering that "So Cal Select AP." That pass is the reason for the insane crowds and, I'm gonna say it, people who come for the day and spend NO money there. The people who buy that pass are the ones who show up with a picnic lunch for their family that they enjoy on the park benches.
I think it's odd that they are sticking it to the Premium AP's with such a high price tag.
If they really want to decrease the crowds dramatically, they should eliminate that "select" AP entirely. Then, they should add more blackouts to the So. Cal Resident pass. They should eliminate the "Deluxe" pass entirely, because it's stupid to offer the Deluxe pass and then you have to add parking for $129. Might as well just buy the Premium at that point.
They should have TWO pass options, like WDW does. Regular (Premium, all access) APs and a Resident AP with blackouts. That's it. People who are dedicated Disney fans will pony up for the Premuim, which really should be priced around $499 TOPS and they should offer a Resident AP for around half that, at $249, NO parking included, but with the option to add it for $99. That would be reasonable pricing, would reflect a good value for what the DLR has to offer, and would help eliminate their overcrowding problem.
The other thing is, they should have done this a year ago. They won't see much immediate crowd relief for the rest of this year, for the most part.
I had read they were considering doing something more like a "membership" fee, that you would pay monthly, for access to the parks. I think that is a brilliant idea for So Cal residents, and again, would eliminate a lot of crowds. I think they could get away with charging $25 for a monthly "restricted" access pass, only good Sun-Thurs, for example and $45 for an unrestricted monthly pass. You'd need a credit card on file for billing purposes, similar to the payment plan requirements they have now.
You just have to wonder who are the brains behind these sorts of decisions? Disneyland now has just too many ticket options. It's ridiculous, and they always have "special offers" at places like Costco, and the supermarkets, for So. Cal residents. Make it simpler, Disney folks!

Great post Natalie.
I couldn't agree more.
There is no reason to have so many pass options.
They are making it harder on themselves than necessary and in the process harder on us.

My husband has had the Deluxe pass for a long time. Reason we did that is he doesn't go as much as I do or during the blackout days. A lot of my friends do same with their families. Only one person needs the parking pass for the whole family. Maybe there should be an option on the premium that you get money off if you don't need the parking pass.
I do agree with you guys on the So Cal Select AP. Everything is fine until everybody gets off work and out of school and bam, busy park.
Irony is they are having a $99 special now going on until June 1st. (This quote is edited):
Southern California Residents Can Go Wild for 2 Days for $99!
Enjoy one of the year's best ticket offers and get 2 days at Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park or one day at each park at a spectacular rate! The more days you play, the more magic you'll experience!
