    Default Tambu Lounge question

Can you order appetizers and desserts from the Kona Cafe while you're sitting at the Tambu Lounge bar in the Polynesian? Has anybody done this?

Back in the day, one used to be able to order selected snacks and hot appetizers at the Tambu Lounge from the bar waiters. I believe you used to be able to get:

    Honey Ginger Chicken Wings
    Kona Cafe's Lump Crab Cakes
Chicken and Crunchy Vegetable Lettuce Cups
    Crisp Breads and Dips
    Luau Sushi Roll

I don't know if these items are still available.

Yes, you can still order food from the Tambu Lounge bar menu. On our visit just this past October, we sat at the bar and shared teriyaki chicken wings and tuna/avocado flat bread while Walter (one of the best bar tenders there) hooked us up with lapu lapus. You can also sit in the table /chair area just outside the lounge and a server will take care of you.

Not from Kona, no. You can order from the Kona menu at the Kona Sushi bar, I believe. And Tambu Lounge has it's own snack menu, but the Kona menu is not available at Tambu Lounge. 'Ohana, Kona, and Tambu Lounge all have their own different version of sticky wings.

Yes, you can definitely sit at the Kona sushi bar and order anything off of the Kona menu. This is nice because you can eat there without a reservation. As for the chicken wings, the ones we had while sitting at the Tambu Lounge were the exact same ones that they serve at Ohanas.

They all taste almost the same, but if you ask, they will tell you that they serve a different variation of the wings recipe at Tambu Lounge, at Kona, and at 'Ohana. I would have said they were the same, too, and I wouldn't be surprised if sometimes they actually are the same, but they were pretty adamant about serving three separate wing recipes in the different places when we asked.

Kona Sushi Bar also serves the same drinks you would order at Tambu Lounge, so if you are really craving the Kona menu and there's room at the sushi bar (there's an additional row of seating behind the bar) that's a great option.
