Los Angeles Beach Resorts?

Thinking about taking my kids, DD 15 and DS 12 to Los Angeles July 19-23. DD wants to stay on the beach. I'm looking for suggestions on which beach area would be the best to stay at. I've done a little research on Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I love Newport, but Huntington is also nice and has bit more going on.

Newport has more hotels, but they are a bit more pricey. There is a Marriott in Newport Beach that is just amazing.

Huntington has more "miles" of beaches. Newport has lots of cliffs, tidepools, and coves, which is fun for exploring sea life and stuff, and some smaller beaches for the laying out, going in the water time. My favorite beach is Corona del Mar beach in Newport. It's stunning! Surrounded by cliffs with beautiful houses, and it's a nice calm beach with powder fine sand and lots of facilities, including restrooms, showers, on beach parking, and a restaurant.
