Default Tickets and form of payment in parks ?

If I go "room only" and buy my tickets from another source, can i get them added onto my room keys when I am there? I don't want to worry about losing the tickets.

Also, if we are paying out of pocket for food, do the CS in the parks take AMEX? What about the food carts - what form of payments do they accept?

    Yes to your first question.

I have no idea for your second question. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help you on that one.

    #1 - Yes.

#2 - Virtually all places will take Amex (there may be a food cart or two that can't). But it's easier if you use your Amex to set up charging abilities on your room key. The room key can be used everywhere (except some street vendors). You can go to the front desk anytime and have them print out a full list of all charges. The Amex won't actually be charged until either 1) you check out or 2) you reach a set limit which is based on the level of your accomodations.

    Thanks for the info!

Wow, on people hitting the $1500 limit! That's crazy. You wonder with all the "Disney magic" going on if people forget they'll actually have to pay that bill once they return home.

Really? I haven't put that on my card since the late 90's. Can't find anything worth buying...

Yes, everywhere that takes KTTW cards ALSO takes credit cards, and AMEX is accepted everywhere.

And yes, you can have your park tickets added to your room keys provided they are not special tickets or discounted promotional tickets.

What is considered a special or discounted promotional ticket? We would be purchasing through an online ticket seller, not Disney. Are these eligible to be added to the cards?

We have never purchased our tickets through Disney and have always purchased discount tickets through online sellers i.e. Unofficial Ticket Center, Under Cover Tourist, etc. and have always been able to add them to our room key without any problems.

I am referring to stuff like the Armed Forces Salute tickets (military discount) and any tickets that are given to you as "freebies".

OK thanks. Do you just ask the front desk to do this for you, or whom? I've called and asked Disney twice now about this and both times I was told I could not do this - add the tickets to the room keys. How do you get around the staff that says it can't be done?

We just returned home from a week at Disney. We bought our tickets through the Y.E.S. program, they would not add them to our KTTW card. We tried at MK to have them added. Not sure if it was them not knowing how or not wanting too.

Could be either... Or a limitation on the tickets themselves. Lately though it seems that training is the bigger issue, or the candidate pool.

Concierge at our resorts have always done the switch from the paper ticket to the room keys. I have noticed the people on the phones really do not know many answers to typical questions. Should have heard the torture I went through for the TiW questions I had one day. And all but one thing she told me was wrong for the most part. While helpful they are not always the most knowledgeable. They typically type questions in a computer and the computer spits out the answer. Let me say this, I called the TiW line number, and she was confused as to what I was talking about...lol

When you are checking into your resort, ask the CM doing the check in to put the tickets on the key. If he/she can't or says it's not possible, ask to speak to the supervisor, and see if that person can do it. It CAN usually be done, but again, certain ticket types may not be eligible to be put on a room key.
