Default What exactly happens at the Whispering Canyon Cafe?

I've read briefly about the "antics" that may or may not go on. Could anyone give me any more details? Thanks!

    Ask for ketchup. Dare ya.

Seriously, we've had some great interaction there. Our server last month wore my husband's half marathon medal around the whole time we were there. What a hoot!

And a few years ago we were there for our my hubby's birthday and they brought him a slice of cake. All the CMs/servers came out to sing Happy Birthday and as soon as they were done, they all dug in to the cake. They had hidden forks behind their backs. It was hilarious! They did eventually bring him another piece of cake.

It's always fun and energetic and more often than not, your server will be funny and engaging. We love it there!

We were there for dinner at the end of December, and aside from a few calls for ketchup and a couple of stick-pony races, there wasn't much hoopla at all.

    Ask for a large Coke.

    Drop your silverware.

Horse races around the dining room.

Ask for a straw for your drink.

Ask for "just a little bit more" if you order the "sampler platter" (has ribs, chicken, baked beans, etc.).

Well, if the "Hokey Pokey" spontaneously breaks out, and you don't join for fear of looking foolish...well let's just say that you'd be much more inconspicuous if you just go with it. Trust me.

Well besides threatening my child with death if he asked for Ketchup, and the forementioned stick races and hokey pokie...it all depends on your server. Some of them REALLLLLYY get into the spirit of the place (throwing napkins, pitching straws, rolling eyes etc) just remember... this is not going to be like going to Applebee's or Chili's or TGI FRIDAYS... this is all an act, dont get angry with the server. Most of them are smart enough to notice if you dont want to play along...but really if you are going to go in there expecting anything less than a hopla...dont go there.

When we went our server played along but wasn't too over the top. He threw our straws down and when my son gulped down his soda brought him a half gallon mason jar of soda.

I was really disappointed with our waitress when we went this past trip. We did a few things for her to take advantage of, none of it happened. The other waiters and waitresses were into it and we enjoyed watching the others. But ours just wasn't into it.
We had the skillet, asked for a few extras, nothing happened besides bringing out what we asked for.
    She barely spoke to us.
I asked for a straw, she gave it to me.
She brought a bottle of ketchup to the table. We didn't ask for it or anything but she brought it with the meal, plopped it down and off she went.
DBF dropped his fork.....landed in his lap, but still, NADA.
Asked for some more soda, and we got more soda, in a regular mason jar....we got nada.

BUT we enjoyed watching the table next to us when the man asked for an ice water the waiter brough out this HUGEEEEEEEEE Mason jar chuck full of ice and water and a straw that had to be a mile long. lol So we had fun watching the others.

Another woman it was her birthday so their waitress brought out cupcakes. Well the woman was taking pictures of it and was eating just the frosting off it, all of a sudden the waitress comes over to her and screams "WHAT ARE YOU DOING, YOUR SUPPOSED to EAT IT!!!" and then got the cupcake and shoved it in her mouth lol that was HYSTERICAL!

When we ate there ar few years ago, or DS was given some crayons to color with before our meal by our server. When our DS mentioned that he didn't have a blue crayon, our server announced to the entire restaurant that our DS needed a blue crayon. We had kids coming from everywhere bringing their blue crayons. I think we ended up with 14 or 15! It was pretty funny. Then, for the rest of our meal, our server addressed our DS as Blue -"What do you want to eat, Blue? Need more soda, Blue?" It was a lot of fun!

We had great fun at WCC, our waiter pulled out all of the stops! I even got put in "jail" for not eating all of my veggies. Ask for Justice when you go, he was an awesome waiter!

I was there at the end of September for my fourth time. This was the worst time I had there. The staff was the least energetic bunch of my four visits there! The other three times were great though.

We have ate there three times and they were all great experiences. The year before last we had dinner there, it was our second time, and it was our twin sons' birthday. The waiter had every little girl in the restaurant come and sing happy birthday to my boys when they brought out their cupcakes. It was so cute.
Last year we ate there for lunch. It was definately a different experience from dinner. Although we enjoyed ourselves it was a little bit of a disappointment. I had no idea the whole restaurant would be empty for lunch! So it was kind of nice having the whole place to ourselves but our boys did not get to do the horse stick races like before. Our waitress was great though. She was really into it. She brought my BIL a fork the size of himself! She brought my SIL a drink in a glass the size of a salt shaker when she asked for just a little bit more. It was my sons' birthday again and i told her not to bring them a cupcake and sing to them this time because they have had it done to them all week and I didnt want them to expect that with every meal so she had made them a really cool oregami crane and wrote their names on it (in japaneese, i think). I thought that was very sweet of her.
It is one of our favorite places to eat at the world.
