It doesnt have to be that expensive. Stop buying the merchandise, that can cut significantly. If you plan ahead, you can really optimize tickets with an AP.

Our previous trip we found less need to go to the parks and really took in the resorts. Still had an AP, but park going isn't all that important.

Renting DVC points is a great way to save robs of cash. You take some points off a members hands, and going with a 1BR can save you loads of cash on in park food. I see some places are approaching $40 per person for a buffet.

    Default Disney Visa

We have a Disney Visa card and pay all of our bills (including our mortgage) with that, making only one payment a month to pay off the credit card. We have almost 2,000 points racked up for our next trip! (Each point is equivalent to $1) We also save our change which can really add up over a couple years. We try to go every other year to WDW, but now with 2 girls in college coming this fall, it may get a little harder to do between their schedules and $$. Right now we are talking about a trip in Dec. 2012 to celebrate my 50th birthday.

Wow! $2000 is amazing... how long did it take you to actually save up that much? A couple years? DH and I both have Disney Visa's but we both have balances on them now that we need to pay off.. I guess you just make sure you pay the amount before the billing date to avoid interest?
Next trip - Sep29-Oct4! Free QS dining at POP. First trip with both kids. (6th total visit)

Agreeing with the change jar and the tax refund - I also try to stick back about $10 a week. To keep myself from snitching from the cookie jar (literally), I'll get the $10 as a roll of quarters instead of paper money.

Spring storms did some damage to us last year so most of my savings went for that, but this year...buckling down. I've even put a picture of POP in front of the cookie jar.

Great idea! I think I'll do that and put a picture of poly in front of our jar!
