Would dinner at Chef Mickey's be a good birthday dinner for a 3 yo?
My DS turns 3 on the 1st day of our August trip. We are not getting park hoppers, so I was thinking of spending our 1st day in MK and then taking the monorail to Chef Mickey's for his Bday dinner. (I want to do a Character Meal and we have done Crystal Palace every trip). We've never been to Chef Mickey's... would it be a fun place to take my 3 yo DS for his Bday? Do they do anything special? TIA!!

YES! Chef Mickey's would be perfect for a 3 year old. Not sure if the resturant would do anything special for birthdays but I think Chef Mickey's would be a great selection.

Yes! From what I have read this should be perfect! We have been to Chef Mickeys numerous times and we love the attention to the kids, the fun atmosphere, character interaction etc. In fact, we will be celebrating at Chef Mickey's to celebrate our son's 6th birthday in March. I have also read that if you tell them it's a birthday, they will bring a cupcake free of charge (and with the make your own sundae... doesn't get much better than that! )
Have a great time!

No it would not be a good restaurant to have a birthday dinner at.
Chef Mickey's would be a "GREAT" restaurant!
We actually ate there for the first time last year and left wondering why we waited so long to try it!
Our kids loved it!
Make sure you get a button in Magic Kingdom's Guest information booth that says "It's My Birthday!" and have him wear it all day. He will get LOTS of birthday greetings.

Am I a huge disney fan? YOU BETCHA! I blame it all on my parents! They are the one's that walked around Disneyland all day to induce labor! Yep, I've been going to Disneyland since the day before I was born!

Yes it would, the character interaction is tremendous for all.
Unless your 3 yr old is afraid of the characters, headed people?? If you know what I mean. I know my son took awhile to warm up to any headed character..at parades, the Chick- Fil-A cow,etc.. Then we went to WDW.. Our first night was at CM. It just took him a while to understand they were just walking around and having fun with us, but the chock hold was on till we sat down at our table. He was also 3 at the time.

I would highly recommend it. Not only is it good for all the things the PP stated, but it is pretty cool to eat and watch a monorail ride by. I have eaten there with my now 7 yr old, who was three at the time and this past June with my now 3 yr old. They both loved it! It was the only character dining experience my 3yr old this year allowed the characters to take pictures with her. I think it is because it is the 'Fab 5" and she is so familar with them. Also the food is very good. Enjoy!

Almost every trip I've eaten there for breakfast but this past one we decided to try it for dinner for the first time. It was great - they have a wide variety of food for kids and adults - overall a great place!

Chef Mickey's for a 3 yo BDay dinner!
Wow I could not think of a better place for a 3 year old to have a BDay dinner. The characters are awesome and you will have some great photo opportunities. How exciting!

If you going to do a character meal anyway, CM would be a good choice.
Not to be too negative though, on our recent visit in December, my first time to CM, I found the food to be very average at best. Casino buffet is how I've described it to friends.
Only thing I really didn't like about the character interaction is that you are so close to other tables that half the time it seemed like the characters were at two tables at once, or at least I kept getting the same other families in my photos.
Only thing that is tough, we found out the hard way. Our youngest was in a high chair, so every time a character would come by I'd have to scramble to get up, get her out etc. Gets a bit old after the 4th or 5th time.
Kids liked the dessert bar though. Food, again in my opinion, meh, nothing special.
