From the Burgh to WDW 12/17 to 12/23 Day 6 & 7
Day 6
We always go to the MK on our last full day. Sort of a way to say good-bye. We arrived bright and early for the opening of the park. the kids went to Space Mountain while I took Pap and got FP's for Winnie the Pooh. Once the kids met us in Fantasyland we walked on carousel and onto Snow White. We got more FP's for Peter Pan and then we used the FP's for Pooh. Walked right in seconds before Mickey's Philharmagic was to begin, then a quick chat with Mary Poppins before going into Small World. Small World was my mother's favorite. From the first time we rode it in 76 she would put her arm around me and sing along the whole time. She did this everytime, even through my teenage years. When my kids were born she held them and sang to them. She did this everytime but the last time she rode it in 2008. She was cancer stricken and died shortly after the trip. So when we ride SM it always holds a special place in our heart that we know she is watching. I looked at both my kids during the ride and both of them had their lips moving as they were quietly singing along. So she was watching for sure. We came out and used the FP's for Peter Pan and then went to lunch at CHH. After lunch we went to HM, HOP, on the Riverboat, CBJ, BTM, POTC. caught the afternoon parade (more on this in a moment) the Tiki Room and riding JC.
We had 4:30 ADR's at Liberty Tree Tavern but we went early and they took us at 4:00. We had a very nice meal and after the meal we headed to Mainstreet to say good-bye to the MK. As we walked down Mainstreet a few castmembers stopped us and talked to Pap and thanked him for his service to our country. He wears a U.S. Airborne Cap and he has two pins on it one for his service in Korea and one for Veteran for a Day in 2006 at the MK. I hadn't mentioned this earlier but he was stopped at least 5 times everyday and thanked by a cast member or vacationing guests. His biggest moment was when the Fairy Godmother came past duing the afternoon parade she saluted him and then clutched her heart and told him thank you. Special moment for my father and a special moment for all of us as we are proud of him.
After saying goodbye to the MK we went to the River Roost Lounge to see Bob Jackson. What a treat Bob is. If you have seen him you know what I mean and if you haven't seen him you need to try and get over there to see him play. There was a really nice crowd and everybody was into it all night, but when Bob came to our table to introduce himself he was singling me out again. But my DS and myself wanted to make sure that Bob knew it was my DD birthday and that she was going to be singled out. Don't get me wrong we all love to particpate and clown around but we wanted to make sure she got her's. After Bob started he called her onstage and had the crowd sing Happy Birthday to her. He then made her lead the train to the Saints come marching in, lead the kids in head shoulders knees and toes, and take part in New York, New York. Needless to say we all had a blast with Bob. After we left the River Roost we called it a night.
Day 7
We got up and packed, then grabbed a quick breakfast at the foodcourt before catching our 11:00 am flight back to the snowy Burgh.
All in all a great trip.

You sure had some touching moments on Day 6. What a lovely memory of your mother singing to you and then her grandchildren, and a truly feel-good story about your father and the knowledge that folks really do appreciate the wonderful men & women who have served our country. You had me teary-eyed as well!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful trip with us!
