Default Our Summer Celebration: Day 1, Part 1: Travelling to WDW

    Date: August 15, 2010
    Location: Boston to Orlando

    The Cast:
DM: Me, Darth Macho, Celebrating Our 12th Anniversary. (Belatedly)
DW: Dear Wife, The Queen, Celebrating Our 12th Anniversary. (Belatedly)
DD1: Princess, 9yo, Celebrating 1st Visit (That she'll remember. She was just 2yo on her actual first visit.)
DD2: Princess, 6yo, Celebrating 1st Visit (She was born mysteriously 9 months after our last visit…)

    Travelling to Walt Disney World

I hate to bore you all with the details of our travel, but I just want to make a point to mention how smoothly everything went thanks to online registering. First was the airport. We had arranged for a cab to pick us up at 7:30am because we wanted plenty of time for our 10:10am Delta flight from Boston. We had checked in online the previous night and we had our boarding passes in hand, which allowed us to check in our luggage, go right up to security for our check, and head straight for our gate, all of which was done by 8:15am. We had set aside 2 1/2 hours for all of this, and we were ready to board our flight in 45 minutes! Now, of course, things were made easier since we were leaving early on a Sunday morning (no traffic and smaller crowds) but I was still pleased at how quickly we got things done, and since we had time to kill, we had breakfast at Dunkin Donuts and picked up a few books at the bookstore to help keep our minds occupied while on the flight. After seven years of waiting, I was nearly bursting at the seams to get to WDW.

Thankfully, he flight was uneventful, and the kids were good as we made our way to our Magical Express bus, vouchers in hand. After a brief, but still excruciating, wait for all to load, we were off to Port Orleans Riverside, where the real adventure was set to begin!

Now I'm sure many of you are quite familiar with this online check-in process, but I just want to pass it on to anyone that doesn't take advantage of these time-saving steps that it truly does make things faster and easier to travel. It would also come into play at the resort, since we used online check-in for POR as well, which leads me to...

    Cool

Sounds like a great start to your vacation. You are exactly right, the on-line check in can be a huge time saver, especially if you have to trael during a busy time of day.

I am so excited to read your trip report. Now I have to wonder if you'll have another "souvenir" in 9 months. It'll give you reason to go back again - as if any of us needs a reason.
I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Love the online check-in. Don't understand why more people don't use it, however...it makes it easier for those of us who do!!!
