    Default Special offer/rates question?

We are DVC members who normally stay on points, and this is the first time I have made a regular room reservation in many years. I called yesterday and made a room reservation 10/2-10/4 at the BWI. Now I see that those dates are straddling 2 different room only offers. I went to the website this morning and I see that I can choose the Summer room only package at a discounted rate for the night of 10/2 only, and a regular higher rate for 10/3. When I choose the Fall room only package I see a regular higher rate for 10/2 and a discounted rate for 10/3. Is there any way I can get the discount on both nights? I don’t think we should be penalized for choosing dates that span rates, and I’m sure we aren’t the only ones to encounter this. Does anyone have any advice on how to handle? If we could get the discounted rate on all nights we could consider adding another night to our trip!

I did a search for this topic but couldn’t find anything, so forgive me if this is asked a lot!

If I were you I would contact Magical Journeys. We used them for our past 2 trips to WDW and the thing I found the most handy was how Terrisue laid out all our options and choices for discounts we could qualify for. We were able to make the best choice that saved us the most money. Also for any new discounts that came about before our trip she would email us with any new options that would be applicable to our trip. Both times we ended up with much better deals than if I had booked directly.

Would Magical Journeys be able to help me even if I already made a reservation myself? Also I thought I remembered reading somewhere they they only work with reservations over 2 nights, and mine is only 2 nights. Does anyone know if that's true?

I am planning to call Disney back tonight and just ask about the different rates I saw online, in the hopes that they could just make the switch for me. What are the chances of that?

Last night I did call Disney and mention the special room only rate online, and they were able to change one night of my reservation only. There were no rooms available under the discount rate for the first night of my stay, but there were for the second. We could have moved to the Polynesian but we had our hearts set on being at the BWI and near Epcot, especially since we moving over to the Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary after 2 nights. We were still able to save $250 on one night which was great!

The only thing is that they said we had to make 2 reservations, one for each night, since the rates wouldn’t allow us to span the dates. We have 2 reservation numbers, and they made a note on our reservation that it’s a continuous stay. They said we should ask when we check in and hopefully we won’t have to change rooms but they can’t guarantee it.

Has anyone had this happen before and how does the hotel handle it? Should I call a few days before we leave just to make sure? I’d hate to have to check in/out/in/out for the 2 nights were are there!

Unfortunately, you will still need to check in twice. A minor inconvenience though for saving $250 bucks . Making the note about it being continuous is only in regards to keeping you in the same room.

Oh really? So it is likely that I won’t have to change rooms, but I will have to go in to the front desk and check out/in again? I hope it’s quick and we can do it before we leave early for our first full day at the parks. If we actually have to change rooms my husband will have a cow, lol! Fingers crossed!

Trust me, I was delighted to save $250, but I can’t help but feel like the whole thing is a hassle. I’m sure people have had this gripe before, but I don’t understand why Disney can’t just put the reservations together. I mean I get that it’s because of the different rate offers but there has to be an easier way!
