Ticket Question

My family is going to Disney right after Christmas and plan to go over to Islands of Adventure one day to see the new Harry Potter area (I'm a huge HP fan). Is there a way to break up our WDW tickets--i.e. have a couple days at WDW stop our tickets and then resume them after our one day at IOA? Anything you know about this would be a great help!

Your tickets expire 14 days after you first use it. They do not have to be used on consecutive days. So, for instance, you're on an 8 day trip and only have 7 day tickets, you could use your WDW tickets on days 1-4, go to Universal on day 5, then use the rest of your WDW tickets on days 6-8. No big deal. We do that all the time for Sea World, etc.
