Do you work out while staying on grounds?
In Sept we stayed at CBR and I saw alot of people jogging in the morning. We are staying at CSR in September and I noticed the have a gym. I am a treadmill person myself so am looking forward to having one there! I was just wondering how many people jog or use the gym's at the resorts?? Also are the treadmills nice?

For me I take advantage of the beautiful grounds and the great Florida mornings to get in my run/walk!! We stay at POP and I am up at 6am and love to run on the pathway alongside Hourglass Lake!!! It is so quiet and peaceful early in the morning!!! Just beautiful!!

DH jogs every morning at WDW. He used the weight machines at CSR but wasn't overly impressed as he prefers free weights and has his own specific routine.

LOL - well, at home I try to do 1/2 to 1 hour on the treadmill every day. At Disney I'm walking 6-8 hours a day already, so I figure that IS my work out!

me and dw also see allot of people jogging and working out in the morning and imho , when im on vacation it's a vacation. i am not going to be that same person that i am back home we give ourselves 6 days of joy. so our answer is no way, and as mom2morgan says all that walking that we do at the parks is exercise enough

Grrrr.... I am starting a new workout program tomorrow. I discussed a new workout program with my doctor and their physical therapist. I tried to convince them to let me start after I get back. They told me it would be three lost weeks of opportunity and if I was already looking for an excuse I would fail again. So, the next two weeks are warm-ups to get used to working out again. The week at WDW will be mainly walking with light weights in the mornings. When I get back, my body should be conditioned for a major start to get down 20 lbs and 10% cholesterol reduction. I was told to enjoy my meals while there because they change drastically when I get back.
1 Week at Wyndham Bonnet Creek 06/17/17 - 06/24/17; 1 Week at Orange Lake Resort 06/24/17 - 06/30/17; 1 week at OKW 12/03/17 - 12/10/17

We were at AKL last week and I worked out at the gym four of the days we were there. I used the elliptical more than anything but did use the treadmill too. It's definitely gym quality machines. I liked the cybex-type machines too.

Last time, my husband worked out every morning pre-parks, while I soaked in the GF hot tub by the pool. LOL. Vacation! It was enough walking for me in the parks. But this time, I might join him for a few workouts. Or... hot tub time is always nice, too.

thanks!! I'm thinkin a nice work out and time in the hot tub. I know I do alot of walking in the parks but I don't break a sweat or anything. A nice workout in the morning will help me not feel so pooped at the end of the day like I usually am!!!

Absolutely! I feel like garbage if I don't work out for an extended period of time. The walking in the park is not the same. Doesn't get my heart pumping, stress released, and toxins sweated out. I need a good run at LEAST every other day during vacation. I prefer running outside to a gym. Cannot wait to jog around the Epcot resort area next month!

Last time that was our intention completely until dh had a little cardiac episode 6 days before we left So I was worried the entire trip about him having another episode. This year we fully intend to at the CR.

Absolutely. I am a daily runner (as in, I run every day, at least 1.5 miles per day.) I have run in the workout rooms of AKL and WL, and run outside at Boardwalk (and will do so at POR later this year).
The machines are fairly nice, decent gym quality treadmills. I wasn't thrilled with the deck, but it was a far cry from the worst I have ever used.
I will admit that, unless I am running a race at Disney, I tend to keep my runs down to 2-3 miles per day, just because I don't want to cut into park time too much.
Current running streak - 551 days in a row. Yearly mileage to date: 233.13. Last update: 2/21/10.

no way! When I am in WDW I want to spend all my time with Mickey and friends! Besides with my dh who races from one attraction to the next I get plenty of exercise!

I agree with Mom2Morgan (I am a mom to Morgan also). I workout everyday, but at Disney, I don't feel a need. One of the perks of a Disney vacation to me is that I pretty much eat what I want while I'm there, and I always lose about 5 lbs that week. We do so much walking that I workout without making the effort to workout. It's awesome!
-
I too loose weight at Disney without trying! I do a combo of yoga, pilates and walking every morning. When I traveled alot for work, I really made use out of the hotel gym. However, on my vacation, the most we work out is in the early morning, DH and I will walk to the main carriage house to fill our mugs up while my parents watch the kids.
With 2 young children, just going from the car/boat/bus/monorail to the gate has my heart pumping and body sweating!
