    Default POFR or CSR

    We are planning a trip to WDW for next July. We have stayed at POFQ our last two trips. We loved it. It will be just the two of us. We are both 54. Can anyone convince us to try CSR?

    CSR has a great table service spot in the Maya Grill. They also have a very nice lounge in the Rix. Yes, it is a large resort but it has a few more features like a spa, fitness center and salon. The rooms have just been renovated and have flat panel tv's as well.

    DH and I are both in our 50's (he's 56 and I am 51). We have stayed at CSR eight times.
    We have celebrated both of our 50th birthdays there, my successul breast cancer surgery and our 25th wedding anniversary. We were there the 18th through the 22nd of September, then to Marco Island, and then back to Orlando and we walked around POFQ as we always said it would be our choice if the CSR were not available.

    You will find some major differences: 1) the POFQ is very small, the CSR is very large (DH and I are healthy and don't mind the walk and, in fact, most nights we take a walk around the entire resort when we've returned from the parks just to enjoy the beauty of the resort;
    2) the food court at the CSR is very different than the POFQ and runs completely different...most people have a love/hate relationship with the food court at the CSR; 3) there are three quiet pools at the POFQ (if I'm not mistaken there are none at the POFQ?); 4) the pool at the CSR is much larger; 5) the CSR has a much larger hot tub--holds 22 peole; 6) the the CSR has queen beds, a fitness center/spa, a sit down restaurant; 7) there are four bus stops within the CSR and I believe only one at the POFQ?

    If you don't mind a little walking, the CSR is a lovely resort. After our visit to the POFQ a couple of weeks ago, we said it would definitely be our back up moderate. But I have to tell you that I would miss the pool and the quiet pools at the CSR.

    Okay, it was ten years ago, but CSR was wonderfully themed, had great landscaping, a wonderfu restaurant, a sweet pool, and all the same amenities as the other moderates, and many of the same activities. It's worth a try for sure.

    Stayed 2x at each and loved them both. I really think the biggest difference (besides theme) is the size. CSR takes its hits for the LONG walks to everything but....you ARE in DISNEY and walking is part of the deal. If walking is an issue perhaps a destination with 4 large theme parks is not the right choice.

    I don't think you can go wrong either way. If I HAD to pick I think I would go with CSR. POFQ does not have quite as much to offer.

    we've stayed at both, and POFQ is hands-down our favorite. Maybe it is the intimacy due to size, but it just felt more disney than did CSR. CSR was nice to be at (hey, a tent at WDW would be nice to stay at), but there was just a special feeling about POFQ. CSR's size did present an issue, even though we are big walkers (and for me, a runner). While it didn't tire us out, it just took so darned long to get to either the pool or main house to refill soda. The theming at CSR is very diluted, IMO, b/c they have 3 or 4 distinct themes throughout the resort. Each theme is nice, but the feeling is way stronger at POFQ.

    okay, i'll get off my silly soapbox now....

    Net Net, you'll be in DISNEY so ALL IS GOOD!!!!

    have a great time, wherever you end up!!!
