And, let me add another scenario that annoys our family. We've seen time and time again very large slow moving groups that spread out and talk up the entire space when they are walking. It makes it impossible to get around them. And they don't evern acknowledge (or care for that matter) that they are in the way.

Thanks for letting me vent! I feel better now.

Ummm, being a bit literal are we?

At my size, I'm just glad I've got good 'brakes' when people stop short in front of me or come rushing around the ends of aisles, etc. Sometimes, I'll just say "WHOA, almost had an accident," and smile. Usually the person who stopped is just glad they didn't get run over by the big lummox.

Wow! Some of these responses are brutal! Lighten up people, because everyone makes a mistake. Some of us don't frequent the parks as much as others therefore we need to stop and use the map!

I don't think anyone here has a problem with you, or anyone else, reading a map in a Disney Park, just move to the side before you stop.

With throngs of people parading through the parks with one thing on their minds (whether that be a ride, show, food, drink, bathroom, etc.,) stopping in the middle of the thoroughfare is a very dangerous thing for everyone. There are plenty of places to pull over and get out of traffic.

Sounds like the interstate, doesn't it? Well, you wouldn't stop in the middle of that to read a map, would you?

Ah come on, BMan, you know that somebody, somewhere, at sometime, has done that.

Well, even though we are "in the world" many of us are "in our own little world" when we are there. I really don't think people who do this are being rude or anything or have a lack of manners....it just happens...

It's not like people have brake lights, you need to be paying attention when someone is in front of you. It is courteous to step aside, but you have to sort of expect people are going to stop in front of you to take a picture, take in the sights, or to look at a map.

Seriously. I can count on one hand the number of times I actually walked into someone that suddenly stopped in front of me. It gets a little annoying but no injuries to date.

Wow-- 3 pages worth and here I am continuing the thread. Maybe we just all need to slow down a little because if someone stopping short to look at a map of WDW is the biggest problem of my day I believe I'd have to "think to myself....what a wonderful world."

It's kind of funny how some people interpreted many of these responses as saying that this was some sort of vacation-ruining, life-threatening, devastating problem. That was never the case.

It was simply stated that it was both rude and a safety issue when people act as if they themselves are the only ones who matter. I think those of us who are polite and courteous get tired of being told to "not let it bother us" like we are the crazy people making mountains out of molehills.

This post was written in the hopes that maybe just one person might remember all of these comments the next time he finds himself doing it.

It's not that I don't think suddenly stopping in the middle of a walkway is annoying/rude but it is also one of those things we have no control over. We can't make people "pull over" to check a map. Since this issue is resolved the second I step around that person, I personally don't see the point in carrying around the anger/frustration/annoyance/insert your own emotion about something like this.

Trust me, it took me a while to get like this but I commute through Penn Station every single day. If I let something like this get me worked up every time it happened, I would have had a stroke or heart attack by now.

I love it when two shoppers stop their carts in the aisle, creating a roadblock, and wander off to stare at the canned goods .

Of course, when I try to move a cart to get by, they come flying back and glare at me for touching their stuff.

I too think it's inconsiderate that people stop in the middle of a main thoroughfare to read a map, text (Why are people texting at all other than to tell your location which doesn't take long? You're in WDW!! Enjoy it!!), talk, decide where they're going, etc. when crowds of people are around. I notice this especially after parades and in the morning when the parks open and you're able to go through the gates. We always step to the side if we need to stop or duck into a shop if we can. My DH and I have this joke that when we get into a park in the morning, we say "commence Mardi Gras training" which is navigating around such a crowd. Although people stop like this in malls and other places as well; daily, I"m telling students who stop in the middle of the halls to talk or play around at school to move along because they're blocking the way. We just scoot around people as best we can and get on to our family fun!
