    Default Roy Halladay

Okay I just sat in a watering hole and watched the last few innings of the Phillies' game tonight (lost 8-1 to the Cardinals). With that said... I don't care what it takes............. GET HALLADAY!

Halladay in the rotation almost guarantees another trip to the Series. I honestly don't care what it takes. Drabek...take him, Brown....see ya, Donald. ....later. HAPP...GOODBYE.

For those not willing to trade Happ, all I have to say is names like BRUCE RUFFIN, ALAN ASHBY, CARLTON LOEWER, PAT COMBS, and GAVIN FLYOD. They were all can't miss prospects.

What do you guys think? Get Halladay at any cost? I argued with one guy tonight who wouldn't trade HAPP for HALLADAY straight up.
For all my Toronto fans out there....is he worth this?

Phillies are winning the division. First time in my life I've been able to say that in July.
Will the Blue Jays trade Halladay for just Drabek? Don't they want 3 prospects?
They can't give up their future for one shot at the post season.
You rattled off a bunch of names. What about Ryne Sandberg? Julio Franco?
What did they get for them?

Being from Toronto, it is going to take Drabek and about 4 other guys! Halladay is by far the best in baseball, arguably of all time.

I am assuming you mean he is the best Blue Jay of all time, and not the greatest pitcher of all time.

Comcast said that the deal was DRABEK, HAPP AND BROWN for HALLADAY

Problem is, I think rumors are that Hallady won't sign an extension and wants to test free agency when his deal runs out in 2011.

I can't say that I'd trade three or four top players/prospects for a guy that might not be here after a season and a half.

That said, I'd still love it if they could work something out. If not, there are other good pitchers available. They could pursue one of them.

FYI ... according to what I've read, the Phils are still the team favored to land him.

Evidently, the Jays are out there asking for outrageous packages for him right now and just testing the waters to see how teams respond.

Common wisdom seems to be that they know they're not going to get what they're asking for him (especially since he's sort of backed the Jays into a corner with some of his recent comments) and that the deal will probably still get done with the Phils very close to the trade deadline.

Wow...so wouldn't that make him a "front runner" or a "band wagon jumper"?

Don't you have some jorts to go try on?

Listen ... you need an English lesson ... a "bandwagon (one word) jumper" is someone who bails on their team when they aren't doing well. It doesn't fit in this situation, since it's the team that's bailing on Halladay, not vice versa.

Would it make Halladay a frontrunner? Maybe ... he is trying to go the team in MLB with the best chance of winning it all.

2 game difference in the loss column and the way the Dodgers are playing, that could be gone by the time the trade deadline is here.

My thoughts on Halladay. Yes, I want him, but not necessarily at any cost. No matter what, the man is going to try free agency in 2010. There isn't any guarantee getting him will get the Phils the ring. Look at the Yankees. The have spent money like crazy the last 8-9 years and that hasn't gotten them any more rings. They won when it was a core of players from within the organization, but the Steinbrenners seem to forget that.

    Let's see what happens...
