Pittsburgh, PA
I'll be in Pittsburgh this weekend for a Pirates game on Saturday.
It just so happens that the Penguins will be playing game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals on Friday night (in Detroit).
Where is a good place in Pittsburgh to watch this game on tv with kids?

Go Pens! haha.. sorry had to throw that in....
They had been setting up big screens right outside the arena and people were loving it, but due to syndication issues(i think) they aren't allowed the last three games. Hopefully someone will be able to give you a good place to go!

Depends on where in the 'burgh you will be staying.
I will say that I think the Southside would not be a great family friendly place to watch, just b/c of all the bars and sheenanigans that go on.....or Oakland either (we've all heard about the Superbowl fiasco). I'm thinking somewhere in the Strip District might be OK, but again I don't know of anywhere specifically that would cater to a family environment.
If you are downtown, your hotel might just be the best place to watch from!
I also think that due to syndication issues they will not be setting up a screen, but I'm pretty sure fans will gather anyway and listen on radios and some people might bring their own TV's and hope to get some kind of reception and watch anyway!
We'll be watching right from our living room!!!
My son told me the other day and I quote,
"Mom, when the Penguins win the cup I wanna go to Disneyworld with them cause you know that's where they are going when they win the cup!" He, along with his "friends" as he calls them.......Cindy Crosby, Afghani Malkin (as in the type of crocheted blanket, afghan) and Felix Fleury.......those are his friends he says.......yeah, he's 7 and already thinks that anyone that wins any kind of big championship goes to Disney.......all he knows, is HE wants to go to Disney!
Once you get into town -- ask around a little and see what people tell you.

Without knowing where you are staying, it's hard to say what would be convenient to watch the game. Former Steeler Jerome Bettis has a restaurant / sports bar on the North Shore that would probably be good spot - it's Jerome Bettis Grille 36 and just down the street between PNC Park and Heinz Field. Pittsburgh isn't an area with a lot of family-friendly locations to watch a game if you aren't at home or heading to watch the big screen. Most bars are not going to be appropriate for kids and the big screen outside Mellon Arena will not be functional. Like it's already been suggested, you might want to just stay in your room if you don't head to Bettis' place.
