    Talking Cashing in the Silver

I know a lot of us do this as part of our Disney trip planning; the hoarding of pocket change.

We have two bottles that once held a wonderful american alcoholic beverage. One of the bottles, the neck is large enough for dimes, the other (gallon jug) the opening is large enough for quarters. These have been our "Disney" bottles for twenty years; emptied out before every trip.

Since our trip is eight days away , we counted it up. This was the largest amount of loot we have ever saved between trips.

    $386.85

If I wasn't taking the camper, I could almost upgrade to another resort with that!

We never spend our change during the year either and save for our vacations. I have a a big plastic Margarita Mixer Bucket with lid and handle in the closet on the shelve where pants go off and shorts go on at the end of my work day. (TMI)
Our State Employees Credit Union has a machine that in a matter of minutes sorts, counts and gives us a ticket to take to one of the cashiers for paper money. Last time we also had $300 plus. This is our mad money to use wherever we want. I still have 97 days to save, but still now September Park Hours.

We do the same thing......save all our change then take it to the credit union and dump it in the machine (free of charge I might add) and then cash in our receipt......last trip we had a little over$500 but we did have some $1's and $5's in there from DH's bartending tips....next trip won't be as much though as DH has not bartended since last year before Thanksgiving!

Cashed mine in yesterday. 231 bucks! Were going to add a few dollars to it and split it three ways for our grandkids to use for what ever they want.. We are going as a family, 9 of us, with our kids and grand kids. And we have another $100 on our Disney card!

We have a water jug and fill it before each trip- our last trip was 2003, so this has been accumulating for a while. We have an annual garage sale and put ALL the $$ in each year. We have over $1300 for the trip!!! no typo....THIRTEEN HUNDRED!! we will probably deposit it right before the trip and use the ATM mostly while we are there....can't wait only 1+week to go!!

We do this every year, but because we mostly use our debit cards to buy things we only usually end up with $50, if that.

Another thing that we do to collect a little extra spending money for Disney is to save our "D" dollars. Those are the dollars that have a big "D" on them in the circle to the left of George's face. We got the idea from my MIL when we were saving money for the wedding and she would give us "J" dollars (for my husband's name.) We were pretty good about scamming them from others as well.

What a great idea saving the "D" dollars. I think I will be doing this.

I took my change to the credit union this morning since we are driving to WDW tomorrow!

It's fun watching the total on the machine keep going up, especially when it's higher than you thought you had.

    Today's total: $255.65

We always do the same thing with a coffee can. We do it every year. One year we had over $400.00! This year won't be as much because we have a pass for the toll road instead of paying and getting change from it. It's 55 cents for one and 15 for another both ways for my DH to get to work. He always used a Dollar bill and got the change to throw in the can. Now we have a box that attaches to the window and it takes money from our bank account. We need to find another creative way to save our change!
Don't need to watch where I'm going, just need to know where I've been--Mater
