Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party Details & Pictures
Celebrate!
Join in the new street party

... This year Walt Disney World® Resort is making it easier for them to celebrate any of life’s special moments. Well, one very big way that will be happening is a brand-new extravaganza aptly titled the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party. Or as Walt Disney World Entertainment Producer Gary Gutierrez calls it, “The ultimate celebration that celebrates everything worth celebrating.”
The street party, which is set to premiere this month at Magic Kingdom® Park, will be performed multiple times daily. The magic kicks off with Disney Characters, gift-wrapped package floats, stilt-walkers and other performers promenading toward Cinderella Castle, as an emcee entices Park-goers to join in. Contemporary music, classic Disney Like most Disney productions, this one is driven by a fantastic score. “The music is all contemporary,” Gary told us. “They’re the songs kids and parents hear on Radio Disney. We wanted everyone to have chance to sing along.” Of course, the classic Disney contingent is also well represented.
As the party settles in at the Castle hub, packages burst open to reveal Disney Characters like the Genie or Sebastian singing a signature tune. And inviting everyone to dance along. “This is the main idea of the show,” said Gary, “to have that opportunity to play and dance with the characters.”
Disney insiders are calling this street party one of the most exciting new Magic Kingdom parades our artists and performers have eve dreamed up. And Gary, for one, agrees. “We do what we do for a reason,” said Gary. “And once it hits the street and we see the Guests interacting and you hear that first ‘wow,’ it’s very exciting.”

Cast Preview is the 11th. I'll let you know how it goes.
The outfits apparently are the ugly purple 1980's ones I saw a while back. I hope they look better in person than on the concept art.

Videos are popping up online. I like it. Very festive.
Let's stop defending mediocrity out of Disney and hold Disney to the higher standard they set up themselves.

Well.....i'm sure many will enjoy this and i hope everybody does.....
But the first thing that comes to mind when i see a bubbling press release from disney about something like this is that "parade"conveniently rythmes with "cost cutting charade"
I know i have a little too much pessimism....but they really need to take the bulls by the horns here and take advantage of an economic opportinity to reinvest....instead of belly aching profits with no vision and....wait for it.....put lipstick on a pig

I'm hoping to catch this at least once on this upcoming trip. I really like the idea of replacing some of the "parade" parades with things like this and the Block Party Bash. I think people long to no longer be "behind the rope" so to speak and get out and dance on the street with their character pals.

1) We saw the parade yesterday (3/5/09).
2) We thought
. . . it was extremely lively
. . . it was entertaining
. . . it was loud (borderline too much)
. . . it was soemehat cheaply put together
. . . it was one of the better afternoon parades we have seen
NOTE: Although the floats were nothing to brag about, the dancers and characters made up for it.
