Default perks to renting a campsite for the night...

We are staying off-site but have had suggestions of renting a campsite for the night... Can someone layout the benefits-- and would it really be worth the extra $46??

This is a real bad subject with those of us that stay at FW. It is hard enough for us to get a campsite during certain parts of the year. We all have our reasons for staying in our RV's. If you want the perks of DIsney transportation or free parking, stay on Disney property. Yes, I know there is no rule against it. Please keep in mind that a family that may not get to go to Disney because they can afford to camp but not afford a resort, but the sites are booked by someone staying off property.

why not cancel your reservation and really stay at Fort Wilderness. It is what our friends call it, camping at the mall. You are in NO WAY Roughing it. The bathrooms are beautiful, heated, free showers, laundry facilities, the pools are heated, there are golf carts so you don't have to walk or wait on buses, lots of planned stuff for the kids, horseback riding, jet skiing, pontoon boats, a petting zoo, pony rides, lots of tame animals to run into such as peacocks and storks, and the best thing is that it is PRIME location to Magic Kingdom. Only a boat ride away from The castle. WHO would pass up a few nights in a souped up tent from Walmart for Prime location at Disney! But please don't hog the campsites and then stay off site so you can "buy" disney perks. It is so unfair to those of us at home planning on camping and it being totally booked to people who have no intention of using it. Some of us that is the only place we want to stay.

We were only asking about wether the perks would be worth it--- ALSO we are going in 2 weeks-- It's been freezing at night-- most likely not many people camping---

Overall-- we were able to find the perks to on-site-- and even with EMH and free parking-- it just doesn't seem worth it-- Not sure that we will use the EMH as we are already staying 7 days and have 2 little ones--

If we find that we need to do so, we will...

As for being the family that wants to go to DIsney but can't afford it--- THat's us... This trip is once in a lifetime-- We found out 6 months ago that my wife is terminal-- we have told our 5 children this-- Instead, we remortgaged the house and are using the balance to take the kids to Disney-- Give them the chance to have a last memory before she physically can't do it...

They were booked solid back in Dec. when I tried to book a site in Feb. We went last feb and it was amazing! It wasn't freezing. It was about 60 at night. One night it got down to 48 but camping in the smoky mountains is 45 on a good fall night. It's normal camping weather really. We just take an electric blanket for everyone and we stay warm and toasty.

It is very wrong to do that you should just rent a cabin that way you could still get the perks of staying on property

hahaha, after you travel IN to the Park from the outside everyday, you will find how WORTH IT it really is and its not freezing at night. you would be suprised how many people tent camp in the middle of winter there, It is actually GREAT camping weather. and EMH is great, esp. for long trips cause that leaves all of your middays open for swimming and napping.

I'm so sorry for the sadness that you and your children are facing. I wish you all a wonderful vacation. If you do get a site at Fort Wilderness I hope you will decide to use it. As jonahbear2006 pointed out above, FW has a ton of great family entertainment. It is a complete vacation in itself.
