recycle?
We just returned from our wirlwind trip where we stayed at 3 different resorts... (not planned) .. anyways, and had noticed .. that in the Moderates... they plead with you to re-use your bath towels to save the planet.. and they kinda make you feel guilty and are like "but its your choice.." if you dont hang your towel out to dry ... to signal that you will re-use it & are conscious of the planets delicate situation.. We moved from the Aligator bayou to the Beach Club ... we noticed that the towels were much larger and plusher and plentious... however there were no sad jiminy cricket signs nagging at your subconscious to re-use one of the plush towels again.... never was it mentioned or brought up .. like at the moderate hotels. > there was however a note about saving plastic bottles and cans.
our question is why are the people in the moderates asked to recycle towels and not those in the deluxe resorts? it just seemed odd to us - why should one group be asked to be more conscious of the planet.. and the other not?

Only a guess and nothing more, but it may have to do with the number of rooms and the amount spent per room.
1 Week at Wyndham Bonnet Creek 06/17/17 - 06/24/17; 1 Week at Orange Lake Resort 06/24/17 - 06/30/17; 1 week at OKW 12/03/17 - 12/10/17

Your room might have been missing Jiminy. Every WDW resort we have ever stayed in, including Deluxe always has the little Jiminy sign with they "please re-use towels" thing on it.

When we stayed at the WL villas, there was a Jiminy Cricket sign. I personally like the idea as I have been to the WDW laundry facility and can personally attest to the amount of energy that goes into running all of their machines and the amount of detergent that is used is just unfathomable!

us too and we've only stayed at Deluxes so far. I was glad to see after so many years of seeing the Jiminy sign about towels that they finally put recycling bins in the rooms. I never undrestood why they have the recycling cans in the parks but in the rooms you just got a trash can .. so much "trash" is recyclable - park maps & guides, receipts, soda & water bottles, etc..

Green is the best thing that ever happened to Disney, less work but the same room rate. They should kick a few of the $$ back. If you think they use a lot of energy to clean towels, imagine what it takes to heat the pools in January...

We have only stayed in deluxes, and always have the little sign urging us to reuse our towels. We gladly do.
However, for all of the detail Disney pays attention to, we wonder over and over about offering recycling from our room. It seems like a very important, overlooked detail.

We're deluxe fans and have always had the sign to reuse towels. It's not just a moderate thing. You must have somehow missed it at the Beach Club.

We just came back from POFQ and we did not have a recycling bin in our room. Is this new for this year? Last year we were at the Contemporary and there was not one either, but we did have the sign. I am a recycling nazi and would have loved to recycle my items in the room. If I would have had spare room in my luggage, I would have brought home my water bottles with me to recycle!

We had the jiminy cricket re: reusing the towels at WL. We use our towels more than once at home so why not at WDW? After all, we're clean when we use the towels. Kudos to Disney for doing this.

We were there a couple of weeks ago and didn't notice one either. The day before we left I noticed one partially hidden by the window. Go figure.

Last summer at the CR, the Jimminy Cricket sign was there, but we got fresh towels every day, even though we hung up our used towels (supposedly what we needed to do to keep them another day.)
It must depend on the mouse/housekeeper. A similar thing happened to me late this summer when I was in a moderate priced hotel in Indiana. My towels were replaced even though I hung them up per the "here is how to be green" instructions. The person I was travelling with did the same thing and did not have his towels replaced

We didn't have a recycling bin in our room, either. I just took whatever plastic or glass we had and put it on the floor near the garbage can, hoping the mousekeeper would realize that it was to be recycled.

I think the sign may have been missing from the room - I am pretty sure every room I stayed in (deluxe & mod) had one.
I think it's weird that even though I always hang the towels, I frequently received fresh ones from housekeeping.

In my town we have 5 different bins given to us to recycle our waste, so it has become second nature to us. The many times we have stayed at WDW we have noticed the lack of recyling options. I would hold onto plastic bottles until i eventually found a recycle bin, its just habit now.
I was very aware that a lot of people just dumped stuff wherever they could.
At POP i saw no "recycle your towl" notices only a few plastic/glass bins scattered about.
What did shock me was the amount of food that people wasted. I saw families piling food as high as they could knowing full well that thier was no way they were going to finish it. It's the, "Ive paid for it so i'll put as much as i like on my plate" attitude.
Last visit we were on the DDP. After we had finished our lovely meal we were asked if we'd like dessert, we all said no thanks we're too full, but our server said that we should order anyway as we had paid for it.well to me thats just a waste, what the point of that.
I know I've gone off topic a little but I've had these thoughts for ages.
One more rant of mine. If Disney wish to save the planet maybe they should start by taking a look at the stuff that comes out of the back of the busses

At every resort we have ever stayed at we have hung our towels just like the Jiminy Cricket sign said to do and almost every time we have come back to fresh towels.
I've always thought that was weird.

We just came back from a stay at the Grand Floridian and they had Jiminy signs. I suspect yours were just missing, because every room I've ever stayed in in WDW, be it value up to deluxe and even villas, have had them.

I have stayed at a variety of resorts, deluxe and moderate and we have always had the Jiminy signs in our rooms. I agree with a previous post. We reuse our towels at home, so why wouldn't we at a hotel? I think that Disney taking the green route is excellent, as I truly think it's the way we need to go to save our planet. One thing I think Disney should do that would save them a load of money and waste is to put air dryers back in the bathrooms, rather than paper towels. But that's just a green crusader speaking.
