I'm a full time SAHM to a 4 year old with autism and a 2 year old with a severe speech delay, so most days, it's definitely a JOB.
DH is a Captain in the Marine Corps, currently serving a year in Iraq. 7 months down...5 more to go.
Sounds like you have a very impressive family. I'm appreciative to your husband also, of course, but society as a whole should also be appreciative of mothers like you and so many of the amazing parents we have here on this site. I used to be a teacher and, sadly, not all parents are like this.
I'm so impressed by the things people around here do!
I myself used to teach (I guess you can say I'm retired from teaching at the ripe age of 24 )and I'm currently working on my doctorate in school and child psychology, so that I can hopefully help out people like the incredible parents we have here. Only about...oh...a million more years to go until I'm done!

I am a full-time undergrad at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford CT, majoring (at the moment, though it'll prolly change again) in Psych with a minor in French.
I also tutor, babysit, and work part time as an engineering support intern for a global firm (no I don't really do the engineering part... too many numbers!)
I also am the assistant director/webmistress of our local children's music ministry, Spirit Joy! (I don't get paid for that one though lol)

I have 3:
Most important: single mom to Emma-Sue, who is 3.5. She is my world and I wish I could stay at home with her all day!
2nd most important: undergrad student at Troy University, majoring in Social Sciences and minoring in history. I graduate in December and plan to start teaching within the year--high school history hopefully. After 7.5 years of college, I finally picked a major, stuck with it, and will finally have a degree at 24 years old. WOO HOO!!! Then in January I start my Master's: MS in International Relations with a Global Studies and National Security Affairs concentration.
The one that pays the bills: Assistant Site Manager for PLACE at a local elementary school. PLACE is a before and after school program for elementary aged children. It is run by the school district and we are open during the school year, summer, and non-holiday days-off (we basically only close 8 days a year...). I got this promotion after only being with PLACE as a Senior Child Care Assistant for 3 months. But I end up babysitting the woman that work for me rather than watching kids... But that's another issue. lol

I'm retired from owning my own Hallmark/Bridal Registry Shop and now have my own Children's Clothing and Accessories business that I run from home. I love working my own hours! My DH is a retired Army Helicopter Pilot and still works for a government contractor as a Test Pilot/Standardization Pilot Supervisor. So he still does basically the same thing he did in the Army, flies and maintains helicopters. After years of traveling around, it is nice to be in one spot, be able to take care of my grandchildren and work out of my home on what I really want to do. Children, Priority One is my love as well as sewing and creating for them.

amateur vacation planner extraordinaire
Davyjones-your job sounds fun!!!!!
I gave up my job as a firefighter 17 years ago. I have been a stay home mom for over 16 years. So yeah, I don't make much money... But the perks are great!
I home school my 3 DD's. Some days are kinda boring, some days are full of planning and checking tests, and making out schedules. I can't imagine having to do this for a whole class of kids!!!
DH travels for his work as a process control engineer. So we are all able to go wherever his job takes him! We consider seeing the USA(maybe someday the world!) an important part of our home school! We've been here in Reno, Nevada for 18 months. We'll be returning to our "home base" in SC next month. Then who knows....?

I'm a band director. I have our high school concert, marching, and jazz bands, our middle school band, and one of our elementary school bands. Needless to say, I keep myself busy. I must also say that I love my job, and I'll be taking my kids on a band trip to WDW next year.
