6 Flags Accident
I read that recently there was an accident at 6Flags Georgia. Apparently a 16 year old boy scaled two 6-foot fences to get in the park. He passed many signs that said 'no tresspassing' & 'dangerous zone'. But after he got over the fences, he was decapatated by the Batman roller coaster. Sources say he was retreving a hat he had lost while on the ride.

I read about this - it's really very sad. That poor family.
However, i also read that the area was very clearly marked off with danger signs and restricted area signs. Also, the kid had to jump TWO 6 foot fences to get into that area. Common sense would tell me to just buy another hat when I got home than go through all that trouble and danger. Warnings are there for a reason!

Sounds like one of those you get what you deserve situations... They don't put up those signs because they feel like it.
-
I know! I feel horrible for the family and friends of this boy. But on the other hand it is common sense not to go there! And does anyone know if he actually went on the tracks?! why would you do that....this is like that story of that man who went on the disney monorail tracks a few years ago and lost a few limbs. But I feel horrible calling the boy stupid

Very sad. Who knows what was going through his mind. Apparently he wasn't trying to get into the park, but was already an admitted guest who had ridden the Batman coaster, lost his hat, and used amazingly bad judgment in trying to get the hat back. Of course there were warning signs, and not that it's an excuse, but who hasn't done some really stupid things, especially in youth? I feel for his family.

Agreed. We've all used poor judgement at one point or another. At 16, many just have that "nothing will happen" mentality. I feel for the boy's family and friends. Very sad.

We were there Thursday (not day it happened). We would stand by the coasters and watch them, but I can't imagine hopping the fences!! I saw some pretty brash things while we were there, people standing up on the skybucket ride and there was this one kid who was on the swing ride in the Batman area trying to grab the girl's swing next to him while we were up in the air. I turned this into a lesson for my kids, when you read a sign like those posted, obey it and don't do dumb things, I feel so bad for the kid's family. Did y'all hear last year one of the workers died in the same area of the Batman coaster when someone's feet struck him.

IDK if he could get on the tracks really.. Its one of those kinds that has the 1 metal bar for a track. I read the coaster, at top speed, goes about 50 mph. I really wonder why or how come the kid didnt duck? You cant help but feel for his family and the poor ppl on the ride at that time. How horrifying! Couldnt he have just put in a lost and found and gotten his hat back the next morning? Im sure that type of thing happens all the time and when rides close down for the night operators or maintenance ppl pick up dropped items - or are they lost forever?
Still, so sad.

We saw a million things on the ground of rides, even the kiddie coaster, hats, glasses whatever, and the poor kids that work there would even tell people to put things away if they didn't want to lose them.
I always feel sorry for the CMs that work grad nite, it's just crazy for the most part. One of the guys in my class stood up on Space Mtn. and was escorted out of the party.

That poor boy and his family! We have all done some things in our past and present that would make us seem like we were tempting fate.
It just makes me want to cry.

OUCH!
I can't imagine a 16 or 17 year old deserving this

Very sad and tragic indeed. I feel for his family and friends. I also hope the guests on the ride at the time couldn't actually see what happened. Seeing that could be very traumatic especially for younger guests.

In the wild, it's called natural selection.

I have this sneaking suspicion the parents will try and sue. If they do, I hope somebody in the Six Flags organization says so sad, too bad, and fights any litigation.
While the situation is sad and I feel for the parents and friends, the teen was seventeen and knew what he was doing. Everything is clearly marked and there were two security fences protecting the area. While the teen may not have "gotten what he deserved," the family is not at all deserving of any compensation for their loss since the teen trespassed into a clearly marked danger area.

Thank God we live in the human race and we (mostly) have evolved into a compassionate, caring, FORGIVING and Understanding species .
I dont' know of any 17 year old who makes the right decision every time all the time. And unfortunately this particuar teen made a bad decision that cost him his life and for that I feel sorry and compassion for his family and friends. I will send out prayers for all those involved because as humans we are superior to the animals in the wild.
