Default Summer flight fares -- what's everyone paying?

    Hi all,

So what's everyone paying to get to Orlando this summer? Last summer I booked SW from Hartford to Tampa (same fare to Orlando available) for $475 for 4 people! Somehow I doubt that I will be hearing of any fares like that this summer....!

I'm trying to budget for next year's August trip but it looks rather impossible to predict what prices will be next year...

I don't know about this year or next either, but my trip may overlap yours to POFQ in August 2009!

I already have my plane tickets for this summer; they are NYC to Seattle and they were around $900 for two round trip tickets. They were not the absolute cheapest that I found, but I wanted direct flights.

I booked back in Feb. I think. We're flying SWA from RDU to MCO for $168 p/p for flights in mid-June. I've now got to purchase 2 rt from RDU to MCO for end August and the cheapest I've found so far is roughly $200p/p. I've had worse rates, but I've had much better also.

Mid June 2008 from EWR (Newark) to MCO for $150 or so per person. Of course we booked earlier in the year so YMMV.

I have to admit.....this is the FIRST time I have ever contemplated on driving to Orlando instead of flying. It takes 1 1/2 hours to fly from Nashville, but takes 12 hours to drive.

    Hhhmmm...which is cheaper......

    Default LAX to MCO

Hi, I've booked for return trips from LAX to MCO in late August. 2 adults and 2 children at AUD$3000. Don't know if that helps, but just in case.....

We just paid $398 last week, rountrip from Long Island to MCO for my husband and I. We are flying down on SW on June 2nd.

We usually pay $69 or even $59 when we fly down in September or December. This was a little higher but not terrible.

I just double checked Southwest just now. The same flights are now $147 each way. I am glad we booked when we did!

We just booked two weeks ago for a quick trip (last minute) with some friends at the end of July and got $360 rt for me and DH from PHilly to MCO on Southwest. I was pretty happy with that considering the gas nightmare

Default Summer flight fares .. what's everyone paying

Hi Cathy - We are going next weekend and booked for just about $174 per person (that's including tax). We are finding that the ding fares are more specific (ie like a specific flight on a specific day). We were not able to get a ding fare for the dates we are going. When the fares that we choose came up DH said to take them thinking we would not get anything better. He was right and I am glad we did not wait. I have gottend some incredible low fares on SW over the years but I am thinking that anything around $200 rt will be good for the coming year. Good luck!

I booked an early June trip to Ft Myers about 2 months ago for my daughter and I and paid $300 RT for both. I am waiting and searching daily for our trip to Orlando in Mid August and the cheapest I have seen is $715 RT for 3. Not too bad, but I have had better. I will only fly SW or Continental, so I am waiting for the right flight and the right fare. Hope that exists!!!

We bought SWA from Manchester, NH to Orlando for the last week of August when they were first released in April. The prices were about the same from Providence as well. About $200rt pp. Hope this helps.

We've been driving down lately, and were starting to prefer that to driving. But w/ the gas crisis, I'm starting to wish we had booked flights. I'm sure we won't find anything affordable now. Plus, I have no clue how to find cheap fares online.

I booked last month as soon as SWA released fares for September and got tickets from RDU to MCO for $167 pp; total for our family of 4 is $668. The fares have since gone up to $736 for the same tickets. Glad I got them when I did!

    Cool

I haven't booked yet for our Sept. trip, and I'm getting nervous about it.

Yesterday I could have booked for $209 per person, roundtrip, from KC to Orlando. That's not too bad, but it's still way higher than I've had to pay in the past.

We're actually considering going the night before because in some cases it's working out a little less expensive.

I keep wondering though, if few people are traveling anywhere this year, and with Sept being a slower travel month, I wonder if there could end up being some "incentive" fares when we get closer to Sept. I know, it's reall a long shot.
